I'm losing my faith

Member
I just can't help and believe that Christianity is nothing but a myth. My family is very devout and religious and i've been to church every sunday since i was a child but there is too much. Why wouldn't we believe that greek mythology or the other 9000 religion but christianity was the true religion. Whenever i even think of god i see him as a fictional character that was malevolent and cruel. I can't help but think the only reason it's around is because people have been indoctrinated into by their parents since they were a child. The bible is 2,000 years old and much of it is already disproven and whenever i ask another fellow christian about some of the more violent parts in the bible i'm always getting a different answer. I'm so sorry i really don'y mean to offend anybody but i'm quickly losing my belief in christianity.

much of it is already disproven

By people who don't understand, so truly not 'disproven' after all.

Welcome to the forums. I'm glad your here. How about I help you? But you need to spend the time to read and yes, praying. Ask GOD to reveal Himself to you. Don't think He won't, just give it a shot.

Evidence & Bible Prophecy

Check out all the yellow sticky threads for starters.

Do any other religion offer free gift of salvation, forgiveness? None do. Has any of their "gods" had a Savior who died to pay the debt of our sins and risen again? None.

Also, just for fun = 2012. The world is based on this 2012 calendar, what happened 2012 that marked "time" in the calendar around the world? That special event was the birth of Christ.

So you quoted a bunch of fakes who never performed miracles and nothing to back up their divinity. Thanks for the list :)

Jesus Christ is real, alive, risen and there are plenty of proofs of miracles over the last thousands of years. I'm one of them.

I take it you didn't care to look at the link I shared with you, so that gives me the impression your not interested in learning about Jesus. Not sure why else you'd be here then, other than to just kill time.

Constantinos, do you really want to know of God is real? Do you really want to know if He sent His only begotten Son to die for your sins? It's not that complicated, but for many it's more than they wish to do: Humble yourself. God will reveal Himself to anyone who sincerely seeks Him. Then you won't have to worry about whether or not this god or that god is the real god. You will know Father God is real, and He will point you to Jesus to deliver you from your sins.

I pray the LORD will grant you this revelation. In Jesus' name I pray for you.

Let's do this. You choose one of those names for starters, and we can search the scriptures for exactly what type of spirit is behind it. This may help you to put things into perspective if you can see where those names can be linked to at least one description in the Bible. I fully understand where you are coming from in your confusion, but the truth really is found withing that Bible you are holding.

Blessings.

You have identified your problem, but don't even realize it. You've never had a belief in Christ Jesus. Just some vague notion of what "Christianity" as a "religion" is. You look to justify this outlook by identifying perceived issues within the Bible, that make no sense to YOU! I'm sure when some have answered some of your questions, you've gone to other questions, and still other questions. In truth, there will never be enough answers to satisfy you intellectually. None within the Bible became believers because of their analytical skills.

Paul talked about the Cross on which Christ was crucified.

1 Corinthians 1:18 For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.

1 Corinthians 1:23 But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness;

Yet for some it must make sense to us. God truly doesn't even come into the equation that He might not work according to our rules of understanding and wisdom.

1 Corinthians 1:19 For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent.

Still Paul believed even though he was a learned man of both the Greek and Jewish schools of learning.

1 Corinthians 1:22 For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom:

Romans 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.

We as believers just present you the Gospel (Good News). We can't convince you of anything. Not my place to do so. The Holy Spirit, will convict you on the truth of it, but you must realize that this is not something you can determine its truth by any normal line of thought that man brings to the table. We are not the ones you need to be asking. Ask you know who If you're truly seeking He will answer you. Just remember 1 Corinthians 1:18 above. Make it between you and Him. May seem foolish. Trust me or don't trust me, but you'll be amazed! Check out the different testimonials on TJ. You'll see that each is unique to the teller. So be on the lookout for something unique! Because I can tell you one thing from my own experience. God is anything but boring!!!!!!!!!!!

I pray that God will touch your heart, remove whatever has covered the clarity that you seek, and lead you to believe that Christ Jesus died on the Cross, for the remission of sin, and rose again on the third day, that you might truly live! In His Holy Name I pray. Amen.

How do we know exactly where this person's faith is? Why not explore some of those questions with them, and see where it goes. Sometimes I think Christians are the worst people to turn to if there is a question of any kind. Sad that someone cannot even get a little compassion and understanding when going through some doubts while studying antiquities. Let's give them a break already with the preaching and see if there is something the Lord could bring out of the questions they have.

Ok, we'll just go ahead with this in case this person is still reading this thread.

Take the name Enlil. It is an older name for Beelzebub who is found in the scriptures.

2Ki 1:16 And he said unto him, Thus saith the LORD, Forasmuch as thou hast sent messengers to enquire of Baalzebub the god of Ekron, is it not because there is no God in Israel to enquire of his word? therefore thou shalt not come down off that bed on which thou art gone up, but shalt surely die.

H1176
בּעל זבוּב
ba‛al zebûb
bah'-al zeb-oob'
From H1168 and H2070; Baal of (the) Fly; Baal Zebub, a special deity of the Ekronites: - Baal-zebub.

Luk 11:18 If Satan also be divided against himself, how shall his kingdom stand? because ye say that I cast out devils through Beelzebub.
Luk 11:19 And if I by Beelzebub cast out devils, by whom do your sons cast them out? therefore shall they be your judges.
Luk 11:20 But if I with the finger of God cast out devils, no doubt the kingdom of God is come upon you.

G954
Βεελζεβούλ
Beelzeboul
beh-el-zeb-ool'
Of Chaldee origin (by parody upon [H1176]); dung god; Beelzebul, a name of Satan: - Beelzebub.

Now, as a Christian who trusts in Christ for their redemption back to the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, the Bible is the tool we use to know what the truth is. If something does not line up with the word of God, then there is something wrong. Either the interpretation of the biblical texts is not right or the interpretation of the physical evidence, or secular texts is not right.

So, taking the Bible as the ultimate authority, Enlil or Beezelbub was an old deity, or god of an ancient people of the Bible that the king of Samaria at the time decided to get advice from instead of asking the true God. The true God told Elijah to give this king a message that he was going to die because of it. Quite the story of God showing and proving Himself to the king through Elijah's faithfulness.

Then we have Jesus himself talking about this demon as one of the top ranking in the kingdom of Satan.

So, as you study the origins of these religions, also search the scriptures for the deeper understanding of exactly how the Lord dealt with them. If you allow it, it will strengthen your faith in the Lord, as well as give a bigger appreciation for the original Biblical texts handed down to us. It takes alot of digging and prayer, but you could actually become a more effective witness for those who are bowing down to these false gods.

There is no offense taken. You are not the first to question the validity of the scriptures and to have trouble stepping out in faith to trust a God they feel they cannot see. God has given you a free will to make this choice. Many of the events of the Bible are well documented in history. The creation we witness everyday is evidence of who He is.
You know there was a man similar to you whose name is Lee Stroebel. He set out to discover evidence that supports the belief that the Bible is true and accurate. I encourage you to check out some of his findings.

  • The Devil's Trident -(These were all gods, most from egyptian religion, created before christianity that died for some sort of "Salvation toward their people" I'm a mjor of world religions and theocracy at Liberty University.

Did you know that the kingdom of Satan is a counterfeit of the kingdom of God. Before his fall, Lucifer was actually quite high up in God's rank and file. Now, because he decided to raise himself above God, and fall in pride, he is now in charge of his own rank and file against God's saints.

The Devil's trident is nothing other than the ways and means through demonic spirits that Lucifer has established based on God's very own pattern to come against those who are, or will be redeemed back to God through Christ.

Looking at all the families of the Egyptian gods, there is not one "savior" out of them who has died for our sins, and has been raised up again. Not one who came as a humble man not claiming the glory of mammon (which is more than just money) in this life on earth. All of these deities or gods ruled by manipulation and oppression.

Take the name RA, who was the top dog in the Egyptian culture. That dog is the same demon who in modern day is called Marduk, and is the same one who God put in his place when Moses came against Pharaoh.

How about Moloch? He is a nasty one who required child sacrifice, and is actually quite active to this day.

Amo 5:26 But ye have borne the tabernacle of your Moloch and Chiun your images, the star of your god, which ye made to yourselves.

2Ki 23:10 And he defiled Topheth, which is in the valley of the children of Hinnom, that no man might make his son or his daughter to pass through the fire to Molech.

H4432
מלך
môlek
mo'-lek
From H4427; Molek (that is, king), the chief deity of the Ammonites: - Molech. Compare H4445.

Currently he is represented by the Owl at the Bohemian grove on the west coat of the USA. The same one all the world leaders go to every year. In the past by an idol of a man with a bulls head and seven draws to hold the offering over the fire.

The point being, is every name on your list can be tied to scripture one way or another. It is who you decide to bow down to that matters. Life is not lived in a vacuum. Everyone is subject to something or someone no matter how much it can be denied. Choose who it is you wish to serve very carefully. These gods of other religions may promise the moon, but will require a high sacrifice that none can pay in full.

Cons i have a brother who told me the same thing about other religions who have the tdrinitys. Well alot of people think that God tells us to leave our reasoning behind when we are searching for Him or walking with Him. Quite the opposite. If you were to read Isaiah 1:18 you would see that He wants to reason with us about Him. Tell me have you ever really studied the prophecies of Jesus. Especially the one found in Daniel 2. See no one can argue about prophecy. Yes you have those that dont use the Bible to interpret itself. But if youbare interested in doindg a prophecy Studty write back.

Many of the "more violent" sections of scripture are actually God using His people to rid the world of the abominations of the giants. Just do a search within bible software for "giants" and you will see what i mean.

The pagan religions, for the most part have a common birthplace, that being the old Babylon of Nimrod. Nimrod was the 1st sun-god and was the ancient god-king upon which the mysteries are based. It was a "world" government and religion. After the confusion of tongues the various peoples scattered about the earth, taking thier religion of the sun-god with them only thier words had changed resulting in many different names for the same sun-god. Over time many of these pagan religions developed a few things here and there to set them apart and make them appear unique. It is a satanic conspiracy spanning the full history of mankind, from the garden till now trying to mimic and corrupt the true faith.

May God give you eyes to see and ears to hear.

In Genesis 6:4 we read that There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown.

These "sons of God" were angels that fell and cohabitated with human women, producing giant offspring. These angels claimed to be gods and there children to be sons of gods. There is your Greek mythology, there are the Annunaki"gods" of Zechariah Sitchen. They are NOT gods, they are LIARS and people are gullible.

Gilgamesh,Nimrod, Osiris, Apollo...same dude. The satanic trinity=father, mother and son

This ancient sun-cult that plagued ancient Israel is the plague of modern day christianity also, though it seems few recognize it, they work feverishly to bring about the return of thier god and thier world kingdom/religion which is apparently, just over the horizon.

<DIR>Jos 24:14 Now therefore fear the LORD, and serve him in sincerity and in truth: and put away the gods which your fathers served on the other side of the flood, and in Egypt; and serve ye the LORD.
Jos 24:15 And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.

What I like about faith the most is it is simple. Jesus told me to set my mind on the things that are above, not on the things that are on the earth. You have not lost your faith, you have lost your belief only. Belief is just knowledge or wisdom according to what you have been taught by another IE: family or freinds. There is more belief in the world than faith, if you contiune in seeking belief, you will learn belief what ever you seek. Faith is not about belief, faith is trusting when belief runs out. The average believer has a choice of over 50+ versions of the bible, that just in engish. Has over 100 versions of church groups to attend and has over 10000 versions of the truth, if you get past that you should be in your late 90's if you stared at 16 years of age. That in a nut shell is belief, versions of the truth according to men who make mistakes. But faith in God, in Christ and His message and faith in the spirit He put in you can pass all that by in a flash.
Our beliefs in Christ what ever the version one has chosen, should teach us faith, but in this day it does not, it teaches us to seek more belief and even more belief until we see and can touch, then we call it faith. Anything that is on this earth is from men, anything from above is from God. Our faith is not belief, our faith is in the things from above, the things from the Father we can't explain, is Faith. Hebrews reads all about faith, a good book worth reading.

If I may, try faith, give belief a rest for a bit. Just meditate on Jesus, take the quite time and clear your mind and all that is in the world, focus on Jesus on the cross and meditate on that, don't go with the thinking, go with the feeling. What have you to lose, nothing, but everything to gain.

Well my friend, you cannot loose your faith as God has given every man the ability to believe. It sounds like you have spent a great deal of your life hearing about God but have never met Him. Ask Jesus to come into your heart and life, to show Himself real and you may yet know the Living God.
You might find some Buddha bones, you might find some Mohamed bones, but you will not find a Jesus bone as He is risen and alive. He is more of a reality in my life than the ground I stand on and His presence is always with me. I opened my heart and met Him and have never been the same. You have that same opportunity so what do you have to lose in trying.
Pray this prayer with an open mind and heart and your life will be transformed into something quite beautiful:

Rom 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
Father I realize that I am a sinner, and no man is able to live up tho the Holy Standard of a righteous God.

Act 16:31 And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.
Father I choose to believe that Jesus died on that cross not only for the sins of the whole world but also for me personally. i believe He took my sin and gave me His righteousness and on that basis I am coming to You.

Rom 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
Rom 10:10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
Rom 10:11 For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.

I confess Jesus as my Lord and Savior, I receive new life from You now, thank You for saving me.

IF you prayed this with an open heart He will come and make His presence known to you and your life will never be the same.

I will be praying for you,
your friend, Larry.

The bible is 2,000 years old and much of it is already disproven and whenever i ask another fellow christian about some of the more violent parts in the bible i'm always getting a different answer. I'm so sorry i really don'y mean to offend anybody but i'm quickly losing my belief in christianity.

Disproven? By whom? The Bible's staying power (2000 years old) indicates its credibility. Also, please remember that much of the violence recorded in the Bible is historical reporting only and does not reflect God's will.
