I use BibleGatewaydotcom for Bible study. And, I noticed strange results coming up in NIV verses. It turns out that Bible Gateway is using the NIV 2011 version.
The original NIV, in spite of being a little loose in translation, was still good. The NIV people then came out with TNIV version which many found to be objectionable and so it was shunned, as all bad translations should be. With the failure to foist a politically corrupted product onto the public, the NIV people have discontinued TNIV, and have brought over the TNIV changes, plus more, to the popular "NIV" version.
Most of you are familiar with the "gender neutral" debate, where masculine terms in the Bible are translated into non-masculine language. This is just the tip of the iceberg of the new NIVs willingness to change the Bible to be more Politically Correct.
In the future, the NIVs at the book store won't be your dad's NIV.
