Following a word from ''the Front''
Psalm 51. After David had sinned.
Some of the main points.==>
Godly repentance = restoration of that deep down joy in the lord.
David‘s total responsibility for his sins.
God knew David’s heart.
‘’Halley’s’’ comments on 2 Sam. 11-12.
‘’This was the blackest spot in the life of David; adultery, & virtual murder to cover the adultery.
His remorse made him a broken man. God forgave him; but pronounced the fearful sentence. ’’The sword shall never depart from thy house’’ 12:10, & it never did. David reaped exactly what he had sown, & more of it a long & hard & bitter harvest. Daughter raped, by a son. Who was murdered by his brother who rebelled against his father David. David’s wives were violated in public. Etc Etc.
Thus David’s glorious reign was clouded, in his later years with unceasing troubles. What a lesson for those who think they can sin & sin & sin & can get away with it.
Yet this was ‘’a man after God’s own heart’’ David’s reaction to his own sin showed him to be just that. Some of the Psalms were born of this bitter experience’’
The wages of sin!!!.

Men & women make up the Church.
We are all responsible for our part in it.

‘’What is the affect of sin on the Church.??’’
( or The weight of it on men?)
''Was it Bathsheba's fault that felled David.??'' (Ref. Eve.)
''How can women lessen the reaction to what tempts men?? '' ( Why or should they?)

Hebrews 12 AMP.
1THEREFORE THEN, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses [who have borne testimony to the Truth], let us strip off and throw aside every encumbrance (unnecessary weight) and that sin which so readily (deftly and cleverly) clings to and entangles us, and let us run with patient endurance and steady and active persistence the appointed course of the race that is set before us,
2Looking away [from all that will distract] to Jesus, Who is the Leader and the Source of our faith [giving the first incentive for our belief] and is also its Finisher [bringing it to maturity and perfection]. He, for the joy [of obtaining the prize] that was set before Him, endured the cross, despising and ignoring the shame, and is now seated at the right hand of the throne of God.

Why hate sin??? :secret:

Because Christ had to die??

'' '' we read that we should in the bible.??

'' '' of the affect it has had on my life.??

'' '' the wages of sin are death *& I don't want to die.??

'' '' Adam left us to pick up the pieces.??

:regret:

What a lesson for those who think they can sin & sin & sin & can get away with it.

God is not going to mow down the seeds we allow to be planted.
Sin is like Satans seeds planted in the heart...if they are left there grow...what crop do we expect to produce...a righteous one? No we will reap a crop of sin. David didnt dig out these seeds before they had a chance to take root, and that is the reason he produced a harvest of sin.

Heb 12:11 No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, for those who have been trained by it, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace.
Heb 12:12 Therefore, strengthen your tired arms and your weak knees,
Heb 12:13 and make straight paths for your feet, so that what is lame may not become worse but rather be healed.
Heb 12:14 Pursue peace with everyone, as well as holiness, without which no one will see the Lord.
Heb 12:15 See to it that no one fails to obtain the grace of God and that no bitter root grows up and causes you trouble, or many of you will become defiled.

Mar 4:26 "The kingdom of God is like a man who scatters seeds on the ground. He sleeps and gets up night and day while the seeds sprout although he doesn't know how. The ground produces grain by itself, first the stalk, then the head, then the full grain in the head.

Eph 5:13-14 And when all things are brought out to the light, then their true nature is clearly revealed; for anything that is clearly revealed becomes light. That is why it is said,

"Wake up, sleeper, and rise from death, and Christ will shine on you."

1Jn 3:2 Dear friends, we are now God's children, but what we will be like has not been revealed yet. We know that when Christ is revealed we will be like him, because we will see him as he is.
1Jn 3:3 And everyone who has this hope based on him keeps himself pure, just as he is pure.
1Jn 3:4 Everyone who keeps living in sin also practices disobedience. In fact, sin is disobedience.
1Jn 3:5 You know that he was revealed to take away sins, and there is not any sin in him.
1Jn 3:6 No one who remains in him goes on sinning. The one who goes on sinning hasn't seen him or known him.
1Jn 3:7 Little children, don't let anyone deceive you. [there is NO SUCH THING AS 'SAFE SIN'] The person who practices righteousness is righteous, just as he is righteous.
1Jn 3:8 The person who practices sin belongs to the evil one, because the devil has been sinning since the beginning. The reason that the Son of God was revealed was to destroy the works of the devil.
1Jn 3:9 No one who has been born from God practices sin, because [GOD`S SEED] abides in him. Indeed, he cannot go on sinning, because he has been born from God.
1Jn 3:10 This is how God's children and the devil's children are distinguished. No person who fails to practice righteousness and to love his brother is from God.

It is a common expression to say "I`m struggling with this sin or that"....that is not an expression of Gods truth to any degree! It is an excuse religious men invented that allows them to keep God, and their sinful ways too. If you are "struggling with sin" it is because you have refused to let go of your sin. Further you show yourself too lazy, and self indulgent to discipline yourself. You have refused to die, and that is why sin is still able to reign in your body. If you dont start denying yourself, God will deny you. You cant have it both ways.

Heb 12:11 No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful.

2Ti 2:11 It is a faithful saying: For if we be dead with him, we shall live with him:
2Ti 2:12 If we suffer, we shall also reign with him: if we deny him, he also will deny us:

Rom 6:5 For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also [in the likeness] of [his] resurrection:
Rom 6:6 Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with [him], that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.
Rom 6:7 For he that is dead is freed from sin.
Rom 6:8 Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him:
Rom 6:9 Knowing that Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more; death hath no more dominion over him.
Rom 6:10 For in that he died, he died unto sin once: but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God.
Rom 6:11 Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Rom 6:12 Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof.
Rom 6:13 Neither yield ye your members [as] instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members [as] instruments of righteousness unto God.
Rom 6:14 For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.

Thanks but where are all the other ''Men'' ? :embarasse

Are they all still in hiding?

Could any of the ladies chip in their penny worth of wisdom.?

I think I may give up on the men who frequent this site as they have grown feathers & are scratching around somewhere else. :coocoo:

ahahaha...I might be the only one who appreciates the humor, but thats very funny!

I`m sorry I thought you were talking to me. It can be difficult to get peoples attention around here, sometimes it feels like the tower of babble, everyones talking, and nobody is understanding each other

Now that i`ve completely derailed your thread, please do carry on...

It's difficult when something grabs you & no body is interested. I thought this a subject that needed addressing. :embarasse

Hmmm. I find it interesting that we have someone introduce a thread on "sin" and then follows by disregarding the scriptures that command us to edify one another, prefer one another, and be kind and tenderhearted towards one another - and then makes such a comment.

And laterunner, whether or not this is true with you I don't know. But based on decades of experience as a Christian counselor, I do know that generally speaking those who are quick to demean others, do so as a result of deep personal insecurities.

If the "shoe fits" you might pray about getting some help. BLESSINGS. Doc

Doc . to what do you refer??

Did you read my original post ??

Have you any thing to add to correct me on or can bring enlightenment.????

I am trying to creat some meaningful down to earth discusion on the topic that is so in our face, mainly relating to men but does not exclude women, or do you think I'm totally off the wall.?

Sin is basically self-centeredness. It seeks to satisfy self in some way. To deal with the sin problem we must do so by deliverance from the temptaions that haunt us. If someone or something entices us, then don't hang around that temptation. However, I believe, that we are not fully delivered until we can deal with sin at all levels and our love for God is so strong that we will run to the Cross. If we find ourselves with sinful thoughts that entices our fleshly desires, we must go to the Cross and allow the Blood of Jesus to cover us and wash us clean. Usually when people fall away it is because they have allowed their spirtual life to wane and they have not stayed as close to Jesus as they should. I am not saying that we will never be without temptation by staying close to Jesus, but we will have His strength to overcome and to turn away. We're stronger on the inside than the outside forces. "

For "greater is He that is within me than He that is in the world."

Maybe it is just me, but I thought it was clear what I was responding to, as it is quoted in post #11. I'm not sure how you meant it, but your remarks regarding the "men who frequent this site" certainly can be understood as demeaning.

My experience, with the men on this site, as limited as it has been, has been good overall. Just because someone doesn't respond to one of your posts does not mean "they have grown feathers" and are "scratching around somewhere else."

Possibly, it means that your posts don't stimulate a response from them, for whatever reason. BLESSINGS. Doc

David & Bathsheba 2 Sam 11 & 12

Ephesians 4:27 tells us to not give Satan a foothold, yet, that's what David did when he chose to stay at home on vacation while the other kings were leading their armies out to war (see 2 Sam 11:1). As a result, he was feeling bored and lonely when Bathsheba showed up with no clothes on. He had not consulted God on the decision to not lead his army personally, nor allowed Him into his subsequent decisions. By letting his guard down, David had left himself wide open and Satan swiftly took full advantage of the opportunity.

The bottom line? We must keep our guard up at all times.

Yes...to daily put on our armor.

Thanks Doc. The reference I made was off centre. I've just been suprised that there were so few men who had the nerve or inclination to respond to something I believe DOES affect most men.

laterunner: I appreciate your response. Suffice it to say we all have gotten "off center" at times. Unfortunately it is something we are prone to. BUT, God's grace is always sufficient to get us back on track.

I respect you for the spirit with which you have responded. BLESSINGS. Doc

Laterunner, when I first read your orig post, this experience is what came to my mind, and I'm not sure if it applies, but I have shared it on occasion.

When I first became a Christian, I really struggled with a certain sin. And I could not understand why. I prayed to Father about it and asked Him why I was so tempted, and in my spirit, He said,
"If you don't want to be tempted, then don't be a temptress."

So, I had to take a look at my wardrobe to fix the problem. It wasn't all that bad, I got to go shopping, and pick out some new digs. I was not bothered by men with wandering eyes again.
