As I said earlier the Bible is Spiritually discern and you must live by the whole Bible rightly dividing the Word of truth. You say it's impossible to live by the whole Bible, but Jesus said through Him all things are possible. If we believe the Word then we would believe what Jesus said. We don't live it anyway, it's Christ in us that lives it. Praise God in the Highest!

OLD TESTAMENT!

Lev 24:16 And he that blasphemeth the name of the LORD, he shall surely be put to death, and all the congregation shall certainly stone him: as well the stranger, as he that is born in the land, when he blasphemeth the name of the LORD, shall be put to death.
Lev 24:17 And he that killeth any man shall surely be put to death.
Lev 24:18 And he that killeth a beast shall make it good; beast for beast.
Lev 24:19 And if a man cause a blemish in his neighbor; as he hath done, so shall it be done to him;
Lev 24:20 Breach for breach, eye for eye, tooth for tooth: as he hath caused a blemish in a man, so shall it be done to him again.
Lev 24:21 And he that killeth a beast, he shall restore it: and he that killeth a man, he shall be put to death.
Lev 24:22 Ye shall have one manner of law, as well for the stranger, as for one of your own country: for I am the LORD your God.
Lev 24:23 And Moses spoke to the children of Israel, that they should bring forth him that had cursed out of the camp, and stone him with stones. And the children of Israel did as the LORD commanded Moses.

Mat 5:38 Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth:

Mat 5:39 But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also.
Mat 5:40 And if any man will sue thee at the law, and take away thy coat, let him have thy cloak also.
Mat 5:41 And whosoever shall compel thee to go a mile, go with him twain.
Mat 5:42 Give to him that asketh thee, and from him that would borrow of thee turn not thou away.

Joh 1:17 For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.

2Co 3:6 Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life.

Heb 9:20 Saying, This is the blood of the testament which God hath enjoined unto you.

Heb 9:16 For where a testament is, there must also of necessity be the death of the testator.
Heb 9:17 For a testament is of force after men are dead: otherwise it is of no strength at all while the testator liveth.

The only difference between OT and today is the form of death you die. In the OT you died a physical death by being stoned or so forth. Today you die a Spiritual death if you do not God's Word. To me that's far worst than a physical death, because if you're Spiritually dead you're Eternally lost. The Bible says work out your own salvation with trembling and fear.It also tells us to be cautious when we start to think we know it all.Paul said take heed less you fall.Who wants to take the chance? What if I was right about paying tithes and you were disobeying God in not doing it?Any form of disobedience is sin.And no sin will enter the kingdom.Anything you put before God is sin.Anything you hold on to that you're not suppose to, you have made it your God.If people love their money so much that their not willing to pay tithes that is their god.In Matthew23:23 Jesus says, Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have omitted the weightier matters of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone.Jesus says the same thing in Luke11:42.That means we are to do both pay tithes plus have judgment, mercy, faith, and so forth. That's the NT.Just be careful and pray.May God Bless You All!

Also, people who worked on farms would give a tenth of their spoils. If you made $100 dollars all God requires of you to pay is $10 dollars of that. That leaves you $90. We really short change God and then complain about it.May God Help Us All! I Love You,Jehovah!

Do you have any scripture to back this up? I believe you might be misinformed.

So I gather from your post that you don't believe that Jesus died for all sin. Seems you believe that one must work their own righteousness in order to go to heaven. Can you answer my previous question? What does the new covenant mean to you?

I'm saved . If that helps you to understanding what the new covenant means to me. But you still have works to do as a born again christian. James says faith without works is dead as the body without the spirit is dead.We can't just say we are saved and do nothing. We must by our works show we are saved. Not to man but to God. But if you are really saved then man will see your changed life. There's more to being God's child than saying it. Just like someone can go to church everyday and not live right and go to hell. If being a chrstian was always easy then everybody would be one. But as a christian there's things we must give up and things we must do.Paying tithes is just one of the many things that is needful. Please read James chapter 2 it's very enlightning! How can people see our fruit if we haven't any?

Also, Jesus did die for all sin, but that doesn't gives us the right to keep doing it. That just gives us the right to repent when we fail. But let me assure you if you sin and don't repent you will not enter into His Kingdom. That's Bible not me. May God Bless You All!

Also, when I said that about farmers giving the tenth of their spoils I'm talking of people in the churches 20 years back. God Bless You!

God Hates Sin , Even Our spirit hates Sin and will NEVER SIN!
It cannot Sin.

1Jn 3:9 Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.

Many do not understand Salvation!
We die at Salvation !
Born -Again is just what it says !Born a 2nd time!

We must understand ? Our Spirit has a mind and our flesh has a mind!

The sinners spirits is the same thinking as the sinner!

The christains spirit mind is different!

The christains mind at Salvation is just as Jesus Christs Mind at His birth into the flesh. It is limited in its knowledge!

1Co 2:16 For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ.
This mind is in our start at our new beginning!

Our flesh mind is just like our old spirits mind was !Now it must be renewed

Changed in its thinking !

If you truly never been Born -Again , Born of GOd, Born from above, or born of your Spirit [all the same birth] then of course you will not understand it!

We are different than those of the Old testament !
They were not born into the Kingdom of Jesus Christ , They had to go wait in Hell, the paradise part until , He Came as a baby , died on the Cross. And He had to go then into hell and preach HIS gospel And thyey had to accept it and Him as LORD!

Even then , They were Not born -Again .
Until He went to New JERUSALEM and Sent back , The HOLY GHOST who does this work !

Mat 27:52 And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose,

Heb 11:40 God having provided some better thing for us, that they without us should not be made perfect.

1Pe 4:6 For for this cause was the gospel preached also to them that are dead, that they might be judged according to men in the flesh, but live according to God in the spirit.

We are judged by our heart {spirit]
God sees if we are New Creatures or Dead beings!
Being Dead Spiritually because of Sin in our Spirit!

The Glory of God Providing

I agree that tithing is not a practise of the early churches. Its absence in plain language would suggest something is amiss when a believer is impressed upon to tithe. As much as churches today emphasizes it, one doesn't read that emphasis at all in the New Testament.

Jesus taught this instead:

Matthew 6:1Take heed that ye do not your alms before men, to be seen of them: otherwise ye have no reward of your Father which is in heaven. 2Therefore when thou doest thine alms, do not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. 3But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth: 4That thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father which seeth in secret himself shall reward thee openly.

So when those give to get tax deductions, it is not a sin, but as Jesus said, they already have their reward. So there is a better way to give.

So those that disagree, consider this. Which glorifies God more in His Providence? When the preacher and the church stops looking to the congregation to tithe and keep their pledges and look to God to provide by raising up cheerful givers or looking to the believers to give beneathe the rod of giving as if God can't multiply the bread and the fishes?

Can you really be a cheerful giver if you have to give?

How is it, brothers, when from the pulpit, the brother preaches to the poor that God will provide and to have faith in the face of poverty, but when it comes to the church as a whole, that faith is out the door as they look to tithes and pledges to keep the ministry going? If God is behind the ministry, would He not provide cheerful givers?

It is ironic when television evangelists will hype giving as a means to get a blessing, but yet how can it not be seen as covetousness?

2 Peter 2: 1But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction. 2And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of. 3And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their damnation slumbereth not.

I can see why God would put away tithing so that believers can see God provide through cheerful givers and for all to be content with such things we have, including from the man in the pulpit.

This is for certain, that showing love for one another takes precedent over supporting the church in its ministry.

1 John 3:14We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren. He that loveth not his brother abideth in death. 15Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him. 16Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. 17But whoso hath this world's good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him? 18My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.

1 Corinthians 9:18What is my reward then? Verily that, when I preach the gospel, I may make the gospel of Christ without charge, that I abuse not my power in the gospel.

1 Thessalonians 2:9For ye remember, brethren, our labour and travail: for labouring night and day, because we would not be chargeable unto any of you, we preached unto you the gospel of God.

And if outward appearance of giving was something that would please God and yet you have not love...

1 Corinthians 13:3And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing.

So why are we looking to believers if they give or not? To he that gives but love not, he is nothing. But he that gives not, but love others is more than nothing for charity is not confined to monetary gift.

Matthew 25:37Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink?

38When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee? 39Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee?
40And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.

Can any church give testimony of what God has provided or will it be seen only as boasting of keeping up with their tithings and their pledges? Where is the glory of God's Providence today in the churches? Where is the faith of the whole church of that which the believer is to supposed to have when he goes home to face the world?

When will believers give the glory of God's Providence back to Him and cease being vain in their thanksgivings?

Hebrews 11:1Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.... 6But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

Tithing

I don't give a tithe to the Lord, I return a 10th (tithe) willingly to the spreading of the gospel, which is a portion of what God has given to me. my church does not use the tithe for real estate, it is only used to spead his word.

He owns the cattle on a thousand hills. He does not need my money, but He loves a cheerful giver.

Hi jiggyfly

Welcome to TJ Enow, good post and great points.

Thanks for the welcome!

I give credit to the Lord for the post as I do for your post. I am thankful for Him pointing these things out to me in regards to the faith so that my relationship based on trust in Him can grow. :shade:

Has any of you read Matthew23:23 yet?If you love God tithing wouldn't be grievous in any form. Whether you thought you had to or not you would want to. That's being a cheerful giver.A lot of people profess being cheerful givers, but they never do it.I can profess to be a lot of things, but it doesn't mean that I am those things.I see today a religious world, but not true salvation. There's churches on every corner, but how many are really doing the will of God? How many really knows His will? They all profess to do His will, but the fruits certainly don't bare out.May God help us all.If you are truly saved the Spirit of God would lead you into all understanding.Of course there's people who disobey the Spirit because of being rebellious. That spirit of rebellion is like the spirit of witchcraft. The true believers isn't going to be in the majority, it's going to be in the few.May God Bless and Help Us All!
