When Jesus arrived in Jerusalem he went to the temple and found vendors there using the temple for a marketplace. He turned over their tables and chased them out. He cleansed and purified his temple of those carnal things that defiled it. Once the "defilers" were gone and he was alone, he began healing the "blind and the lame".
Paul had to remind the "blind and lame" Corinthians they were created by God, that their bodies were temples, temples of the Holy Spirit. They were not free to live carnal lives but to honor God with their temples. Jesus had told the merchants the temple was to be a house of prayer not a den of thieves. How many of us, are allowing the world's "merchants and money changers" defile our soul/temple? Brothers and sisters, we need to spend much time alone with Jesus in prayer allowing him teach and heal our "blind and lame" bodies.
