And that's the best advice right there brother. Definitely don't tithe if you don't see the revelation behind the Word and how its a privilege to tithe to the Lord under grace. Tithing isn't for everyone and God's best is only going to be seen by those that are humble and believe His Word. Many just keep listening to the devil, "The church just wants your money! blah blah blah." And he's robbed Christians of a powerful blessing with this rediculous lie. Everything you put in Jesus' hands get multiplied. He never fails to produce a harvest that's far greater than the seed you sowed. Everything you give to the Lord in faith is MULTIPLIED!

And you honestly don't see this chapter pertaining to the comparison of the Melchisedec priesthood with the Levitical priesthood, the old covenant withe the new covenant?

If it is to instruct the practice of tithing then it must be done in the same fashion. From the spoils of war and or from the increase of crops and flocks/herds.

I believe that this chapter is to signify the supremacy of the priesthood of Christ over all other priesthoods.

Jesus' words on tithing - all of them.

Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You give a tenth of your spices—mint, dill and cumin. But you have neglected the more important matters of the law—justice, mercy and faithfulness. You should have practiced the latter, without neglecting the former.

Matthew 23:23

Luke 11:42

Isn't it clear that Jesus is not putting forward the tithe as a cover-all for righteousness? While does not instruct anyone to abandon the tithe, he shows very clearly that God demands more - in these cases justice and humility.

I am more and more convinced that the answer to my original question has very little to do with the tithe.

It sounds to me that God is telling His people that as long as they obey his command, that he will always take care of them and their needs.

Not to take from there brother back what is owed to them after seven years, i believe that this is God's way of giving to those whom may have less.

And God stresses that if there is poor among them to lend to those poor their need, thus they will no longer be poor, and all will have what it is that they need..

If every brother and sister helps one another, then there truly should never be poor or poverty among christains, he stated that strangers we accountable for what they owe, foreigners to the land He has given them, that one i am not quite sure on???
