You will always have the poor among you

We are blessed with faithful Abraham and the seed of Abraham...

God never designed us to be broke, but to increase us more and more, us and our Children to be a major blessing on this earth.

You may think it's humble to say that you just believe God to feed and take care of your family, You may think a million dollars is a lot of money, but your living far below what God has for you.

Focus on the Kingdom and do the Kingdom Work!!! Tithe faithfully everything that comes in, and give when you have little. If your faithful in what you have, believe me...... God will give a mighty increase and the windows of Heaven will start to open in ways you never thought possible.

You will get in positions to not sow 5.00 or 20.00 but thousands for the preaching of the Gospel and be a source God can use to bless many....

Go after it, get the best God has for you... I promise you will not have any room to put it, and it will come in faster than you can sow it out..

Jesus is Lord.

+1 You go Brother Mike! It continues to baffle me how Christians think, that the God who created the diamonds, rubies, gold, silver, etc., wants His own children of all the people, to be poor and destitute and to struggle. I just find that as a strange view given we are the seed of Abraham through Jesus and have all the blessings of Abraham. If you believe it that is. I see no humility or virtue in being poor. It really is true that how you see and what you believe about God will determine what you will receive from Him. The tithe and the "sowing and reaping" principle is just bullet proof. Its an unshakebale investment. God's financial system, unlike man's financial system, works 100% of the time. I mean if you can't trust God with your unrighteous mammon, how is He going to trust you with the true riches? I don't care how much or how little anyone makes. You can afford to give God a tenth of all your increase. Especially if you want to get out of poverty and see biblical prosperity, which encompasses more than just multiplying your bank account. Why do people fight this? Anything you put in Jesus' hands gets multiplied. Here we are living under grace and Jesus receives our tithe and we have Christians acting like its burdensome to honor the Lord with their possessions.

Praise God!!!

Thank you brother Rob.......

If the body of Christ could just get over the fact that a thousand dollars is not that much money, then they can look at a million being nothing compared to what God can do.

It is bullet proof...... Tithe.......... Putting God first, and being faithful with what you do have, sets you up for increase..... If you want to hold onto it and pay your bills first, and God comes last.... then that is a poverty lifestyle.

Jesus is lord.

kjv:Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked:

Php 4:11 Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content.
Php 4:12 I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: every where and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need.

It is okay to have things until your things start to have you. The Old Covenant man measured favor with God by material gain but we have a higher calling. Like the great Apostle we are not to place much stock in fleeting wealth. While I acknowledge that God loves to bless His children many if not most find success a snare. God loves the poor Christian and considers him no less blessed than the wealthy brother.
Gen 15:1 After these things the word of the LORD came unto Abram in a vision, saying, Fear not, Abram: I am thy shield, and thy exceeding great reward.

Chasing $ and prosperity teaching is in fact completely the opposite of what Jesus Himself taught:

Mat 19:21 Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me.

Tis this the voice of biblical and spiritual reason I hear? LOL, although it may not be a popular message among some here it is a good sound message. Thanks Larry.

Then Jesus said to his disciples, "I tell you the truth, it is very hard for a rich person to get into the Kingdom of Heaven. Matt. 19:23

If the concept that "God wants to make us all rich" were true then one could deduce that God wants to make it hard for everyone to enter the kingdom of heaven.

I'll see your 1 scripture and raise you 14 scriptures. I love the verse where the Lord COMMANDS a blessing. Sounds to me like He's commanding a blessing because something is resisting you or preventing you from getting that blessing. Something seems to be in the way. Can you say devil?

Deuteronomy 28:1-14 (Amplified Bible)

1IF YOU will listen diligently to the voice of the Lord your God, being watchful to do all His commandments which I command you this day, the Lord your God will set you high above all the nations of the earth.

Then Jesus said to his disciples, "I tell you the truth, it is very hard for a rich person to get into the Kingdom of Heaven. Matt. 19:23

If this rich young ruler had been able to take his eyes off his money he would have had no problem at all. Jesus did offer him a very good deal!
Matthew 19:21 (Amplified Bible)

21Jesus answered him, If you would be perfect [that is, <sup class="footnote" value="[<a href=&quot;#fen-AMP-23784a&quot; title=&quot;See footnote a&quot;>a</a>]">[a]have that spiritual maturity which accompanies self-sacrificing character], go and sell what you have and give to the poor, and you will have riches in heaven; and come, <sup class="footnote" value="[<a href=&quot;#fen-AMP-23784b&quot; title=&quot;See footnote b&quot;>b</a>]">[b]be My disciple [side with My party and follow Me].

Obviously, for a covenant person he was not looking at his covenant.

The Concept.........

Jiggyfly:

Then Jesus said to his disciples, "I tell you the truth, it is very hard for a rich person to get into the Kingdom of Heaven. Matt. 19:23

If the concept that "God wants to make us all rich" were true then one could deduce that God wants to make it hard for everyone to enter the kingdom of heaven.

The concept would be to read the rest of the passage, Had the rich young ruler stayed around, He would have heard that Nobody has given everything for the Gospel's sake and not received a 100 fold NOW IN THIS TIME........

Jesus also did not Mention the Kingdom of Heaven, but the Kingdom of God and the way God operates............ One is a place, the other is a system of how that place operates....... "Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven."

Give and it shall be given is God's operation..... A rich man will trust in what he has......... A person that knows God and knows God made them wealthy would have Gotten there putting the Gospel first... As God gives power to get wealth to establish his covenant..........

Jesus Is Lord.

I think one of the things that gets overlooked about that rich young ruler in Mathew 19, was that he came over to Jesus bragging about how he keeps all the commandments. Jesus showed him and us where his heart was. Its also interesting to note that we are shown just how difficult it can be to give under the law as opposed to being under grace. I agree thatb you don't go for wealth, you go for Jesus. But health and wealth are the primary biproducts of the gospel of grace. Why get offended at the thought of becoming very prosperous. God made a bold promise to Abraham and if Jesus declared us Abraham's seed, then why object to the Abrahamic blessings? We have the fullness of the covenant, let's enjoy it and not forget to give the Lord a tenth of all our increase and then some. He multiplies everything that we put in His hands. I mean wherever Jesus went, wealth was just attracted to Him. Its just what Jesus brings. I mean when He was a baby, right from the get go He funded the stay in Egypt until that clown Herod was done with. Just seems to me that we have a lot of Christians that don't walk in the "sonship of God." I certainly don't approach God under grace as Man and God. I approach Him as Son and Abba. Seems like we are our own stumbling block to becoming prosperous because we can't accept what the Word says and we of course make up all kinds of excuses why not to give God His tithe. I mean everything the Lord tells us to do always has a blessing attached to it. Just seeing these things in scripture make me love Jesus even more and more. If you guys don't want your share, then I'm praying tonight and asking gthe Lord for your share. You have 24hrs to get your act together or I'm asking for it brothers.

Only one question....Why do you feel the young man was bragging? I think he was sincerely searching...

Here we are living under grace and Jesus receives our tithe and we have Christians acting like its burdensome to honor the Lord with their possessions.

Christians act like its burdensome because they've been conditioned
to view it as a legal obligation by arm-twisting tactics from the pulpit.

He was bragging about how he kept the laws and acted as if he was so righteous by his own law keeping. I mean no one kept all of the law under the Old Covenant. His bragging almost reminds me of the Israelites being self righteous at Mt. Sinai telling God they could do anything He commanded. In case you're wondering why I'm bringing that up, every story in the Bible has multi-dimensional meanings to them.

I agree that some pulpits make it out to seem like there is a legal obligation to do it and some pulpits make people feel guilty of they don't tithe, which obviously is not a good approach either. But then there are some of these grace/law preaching churches that go around preaching that everything you have under grace, belongs to God. Therefore, there's no need to give Him his firstfruits because its understood its all His. And of course God doesn't accept that. Regardless of the reasons behind these beliefs, Christians are robbing themselves of a powerful blessing.

What did Jesus say about riches and poverty?

I have searched through the four gospels and pulled out every direct reference Jesus made to poverty, money, riches and treasure. I have not included parables which use treasure as a metaphor for talking about salvation or grace.

I've done this quite quickly, so I have probably missed some significant saying and there is some repetition because the same incidents are covered in more than one gospel.

Of course all these are stripped of their context, which is essential for careful study. However, taken as a snapshot rather than a detailed analysis, they reveal a consistent set of messages about wealth.

In the order that I found them....

  • Then Jesus said to his disciples, "I tell you the truth, it is hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven. Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God."

  • Jesus looked around and said to his disciples, "How hard it is for the rich to enter the kingdom of God!"

  • It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.

  • But woe to you who are rich, for you have already received your comfort.

  • The seed that fell among thorns stands for those who hear, but as they go on their way they are choked by life's worries, riches and pleasures, and they do not mature.

  • But God said to him, 'You fool! This very night your life will be demanded from you. Then who will get what you have prepared for yourself?' This is how it will be with anyone who stores up things for himself but is not rich toward God.

  • Then Jesus said to his host, "When you give a luncheon or dinner, do not invite your friends, your brothers or relatives, or your rich neighbors; if you do, they may invite you back and so you will be repaid."

  • So if you have not been trustworthy in handling worldly wealth, who will trust you with true riches?

  • There was a rich man who was dressed in purple and fine linen and lived in luxury every day. At his gate was laid a beggar named Lazarus, covered with sores and longing to eat what fell from the rich man's table. Even the dogs came and licked his sores. The time came when the beggar died and the angels carried him to Abraham's side. The rich man also died and was buried. In hell, where he was in torment, he looked up and saw Abraham far away, with Lazarus by his side. So he called to him, 'Father Abraham, have pity on me and send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, because I am in agony in this fire.' But Abraham replied, 'Son, remember that in your lifetime you received your good things, while Lazarus received bad things, but now he is comforted here and you are in agony.

  • Jesus looked at him and said, "How hard it is for the rich to enter the kingdom of God! Indeed, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God."

  • Jesus saw the rich putting their gifts into the temple treasury. 2He also saw a poor widow put in two very small copper coins. "I tell you the truth," he said, "this poor widow has put in more than all the others. All these people gave their gifts out of their wealth; but she out of her poverty put in all she had to live on."

  • "If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me."

  • The poor you will always have with you, but you will not always have me.

  • Jesus looked at him and loved him. "One thing you lack," he said. "Go, sell everything you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me."

  • Calling his disciples to him, Jesus said, "I tell you the truth, this poor widow has put more into the treasury than all the others."

  • The poor you will always have with you, and you can help them any time you want. But you will not always have me.

  • "The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to release the oppressed,"

  • Looking at his disciples, he said: "Blessed are you who are poor, for yours is the kingdom of God.

  • So he replied to the messengers, "Go back and report to John what you have seen and heard: The blind receive sight, the lame walk, those who have leprosy are cured, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the good news is preached to the poor."

  • But give what is inside the dish to the poor, and everything will be clean for you.

  • Sell your possessions and give to the poor. Provide purses for yourselves that will not wear out, a treasure in heaven that will not be exhausted, where no thief comes near and no moth destroys.

  • But when you give a banquet, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind

  • The servant came back and reported this to his master. Then the owner of the house became angry and ordered his servant, 'Go out quickly into the streets and alleys of the town and bring in the poor, the crippled, the blind and the lame.'

  • When Jesus heard this, he said to him, "You still lack one thing. Sell everything you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me."

  • You will always have the poor among you, but you will not always have me.

  • Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

  • If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.

  • Jesus looked at him and loved him. "One thing you lack," he said. "Go, sell everything you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me."

  • No one can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and Money.

  • Take nothing for the journey except a staff—no bread, no bag, no money in your belts.

  • Take nothing for the journey—no staff, no bag, no bread, no money, no extra tunic.

  • No servant can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and Money.

  • When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit on his throne in heavenly glory. All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. He will put the sheep on his right and the goats on his left. Then the King will say to those on his right, 'Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.' Then the righteous will answer him, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?' The King will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.' Then he will say to those on his left, 'Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.' They also will answer, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?' "He will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.'

It greives me every time I sit down to eat and give thanks to God for our daily bread that during the whole 52 years of my existance I have never been able to eat knowing everyone in the world was fed.
Politicians promise this and that and advocate democracy but have never even for one day in my life been able to feed evryone at least one day.
I rejoice in my Lord and King Jesus that his Theocratic government when established will meet all the needs of man both spiritual and physical.

Revation 21 v 4 And God will wipe away all tears from thier eyes; and there shall be no more death, niether sorrow, nor crying, niether shall there be any more pain; for the former things have passed away

The poor will always be with us as long as this wicked system of things exists but praise God not for much longer. The Lord Jesus is comming to establish his kingdom upon the earth and there shal be no more poor

Praise the Lord, Amen

Brother El Hombre viego,
I too think the rich young man was genuinely searching and wanted to be right with God. Jesus asks him about the commandments and he seems to brag he has kept these since birth.
I don't think this example is about riches or poverty but about obedience. Note that Jesus was content that the man was close to the kingdom of God when he gave him the command to go and sell everthing and give his substance to the poor. To whom did his wealth belong? Did he have right over his own wealth? I think he shows by his inability to recognise that Jesus is the owner of every thing and his decision to keep his wealth he was not able to keep the commandments he said he did, otherwise he would have in faith obeyed his master, our Lord Jesus

Shalom Ebed

The poor will always be with you..........

Hekuran

Thank you for the scriptures...... Here are some I found...

(After Giving!!!!!)
2Co 9:11
Being enriched in every thing to all bountifulness, which causeth through us thanksgiving to God.

(More giving)
Mal 3:10
Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.

(Money makes a lousy source and lousy god. God however can hook us up!!!)
1Ti 6:17
Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy;

(Power to get wealth (Not to sit and watch TV all day though.)
Deu 8:18
But thou shalt remember the LORD thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day.

Matt 6.........

1) Giving
2) Praying
3) fasting

a) forgiveness
b) taking no thought on how your needs are met (No fear, don't worry)

Seeking the Kingdom of God....... (Not heaven but the operation of Heave first)

This determines where your heart is at.

1) Where does your money go first? To God, or bills?
2) How much time you pray for others, Not just yourself and family.
3) Living a fasted life, or when you fast, not if you fast.
4) Do you judge others, do you forgive quickly?
5) Do you worry about anything, have fear of anything. Concerned about your bills....??

Luk 16:9 And I say unto you, Make to yourselves friends of the mammon of unrighteousness; that, when ye fail, they may receive you into everlasting habitation

Saying all you have belongs to God, tells me you need to give it to him and start putting the Kingdom of God first....... Tithing 10% is a good way to start being obedient................
Christians are ignorant about Money............ Being poor is not good, and does not make you very useful....

If your faithful with a little, if your faithful with someone else, then more will be added to you.....
If your the type to put your needs first before considering God, then forget it........ stay broke....

With what Hekuran has posted it is clear that Money can never be a source.............. money is just a tool, and amounts of money does not matter, millions or 10's......... you should never raise a eyebrow at either as God is not at all limited.

You will never operate the Kingdom of God if you trust in your money to get you through.

Being rich is good, be friends with Mammon, know how it works, know how to bring it in for a blessing. Be willing to give it all, the amount is not important.

Put God first!!!
This is how I went from Broke, to where I am at now...

Jesus Is Lord.

Why do you thank me for the scriptures when you have ignored every single one of them in your response?
