When doubts filled my mind, your comfort gave me renewed hope and cheer. Psalm 94:19
Seasons of doubt, fear, and even panic come up frequently in the Psalms. The writers of the Psalms voiced their uneasy thoughts to God in stark, unfiltered language. They held nothing back and let God know when life became unbearable or uncertain.
What is filling your mind today? There's no escaping your worries and cares. You can't distract them to the point that they disappear altogether. You must face them as they are and then surrender them to God. The longer you run from them or deny their existence, the more persistent they will become.
The Psalms help you face your uneasy mind. They teach you to cry out for help when you're overcome. Comfort and renewed hope can be yours, but you must venture through the valley of the shadow of death first, trusting that the Good Shepherd will guide you.
Your only hope is counteracting the noise of your worries and fears with the consolation of God, seeking His direction and restoration rather than wallowing in your cares. This isn't an easy process to begin, and perhaps it may feel short on consolation at first.
The Psalms assure you that God is present offering you the peace you seek.
