Yaaargh!! Materialism!

Lurking pedant here.

Most people confuse materialism and being materialistic. Materialism, properly, is a stream of philosophy which holds that nothing exists except matter.

Materialism

Materialism or materialistic is simply put, the attempt to use material things to meet spiritual needs. Selah. It matters not at all how much you accumulate. It only matters how you use it, and how you value it.

Here's a good definition
Merriam-Webster
: a preoccupation with or stress upon material rather than intellectual or spiritual things.

Of course!! But consider this Jigger. When you are preoccupied with stuff you will try to fill all your spiritual needs with material stuff.

We all need some stuff in this world. We all have diverse personalities. I like my fast cars. The Lord knows they give me great enjoyment. Everyone has their own things that bring them joy. I tend to look at our "stuff" on this planet as toys. I mean God sees us as babies and He knows we need our stuff too. BUT many confuse the need for "stuff" with building your life around it and worshipping it and treating it as a god. And I agree that you don't do that. The kingdom of God comes first and some of your money needs to be going into it every paycheck.
