Would You Recognise Jesus?

Seek HIM in our fellow men

I saw this discussion. Today He walks among us spiritually through the word of God and then He will come in glory to judge the living and the dead to take us to live with Him. If we can not love our brother whom we can see how can we love Jesus whom we have never seen. If we could see the living Jesus in each other what wonderful gift to Jesus will be? Yes Jesus lives in you, with you and through you. Jesus is not dead, He is alive and He walks among us to speak like Him and to be like Him.

If we love HIM and wish to find HIM , we can seek HIM in our fellow men . The answer is in a song entitled 'Emmanuel'

We do not only need to recognise Jesus . We need to see HIM spiritually ..We need to feel HIS presence in our lives and among others too . Yes ! Love thy neighbour ... our fellow brothers and sisters .

The real victory at Calvary was the defeat of sin and works of Satan. The indwelling of the Holy Spirit gives us HIS power to walk without sin both inward and outward. When we are justified the process of sanctification begins. HE will complete the good work which HE starts in us.

But we must believe this. It is by faith that we walk and grow in this.

i totally agree that if we sin Jesus our beloved King is our advocate before Father God. Please pay attention it says if not when.

Instead of always refering to ourselves as
i am a sinner saved by grace

We should say

i was a sinner saved by grace.

Walk in it, live it, believe it.

Praise Jesus!! Lion of Judah!!

To this i would like to add that i am not saying I CAN NOT SIN or that I NEVER SIN. i am saying that the Bible teaches us that the indwelling of the Holy Ghost is the source of POWER over inward and outward sin. We can't do it but Jesus won this victory for us at Calvary. Him living in me is my righteousness. In order for this to be so we must BELIEVE this. It is by faith the same as salvation is by faith.

I think if He could pass through the midst of those who would throw Him off a cliff (Luke 4:30) or talk to His disciples without them recognizing who He was, (John 21:4) then I think we would only recognize Him if He wanted us to.
Regarding your John 21:4 citation , it may be that the disciples didn't recognize Jesus because they were in a boat on the Sea of Galilee, some distance frome shore; too far away to make out who it was.

Luke 24

Hi there. You are right SpiritledEd. There is though Luke 24 13Now that same day two of them were going to a village called Emmaus, about seven miles[a] from Jerusalem. 14They were talking with each other about everything that had happened. 15As they talked and discussed these things with each other, Jesus himself came up and walked along with them; 16but they were kept from recognizing him.... There was a few more appearances like that.
I was taught wrong all my life, about our Lord and Saviour. It is because He allowed me to see Him, or rather my Father gave me His Son, that I was able to see the Lord.
Some interesting discussions. I agree with your first post very much Chad.
Praise the Lord Jesus Christ.
Amen:Pixie:love: :rose:

If there ever was a person who was "saved", it is the apostle Paul. Yet in Romans 7 he says, "We know that the law is spiritual, but I am unspiritual, sold as a slave to sin. I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do, I do not do, but what I hate I do. And if I do what I do not want to do, I agree that the law is good As it is, it is no longer I mself who do it, but it is sin living in me. I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my sinful nature. For I have the desire to do good, but I cannot carry it out. (Ro 7:14-18)

Paul spoke of himself in present tense, not in past tense. He knew that though Jesus Christ was his Lord and Savior, he was still saddled with his sin nature and so, quite unintentionally, would sin sometimes.

Also. in 1st John, the apostle John wrote, "If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us" (1 John 1:8). He, too, spoke in present tense and he was writing to the church, most of whom were saved believers.

I think Chad has it right. Its not that we "were" sinners and "were" saved by grace. We are sinners and we have been saved by God's grace.

All I have read concerning this thread, is the post that started it. So, I want to try to do what you asked.

In all honesty, I do not know if I would have see Him for Who He is. Jesus said blessed our those who have believed in Me, yet have never seen me; the way His disciples had every day, for 3 years.

I am a woman, and there were a lot of women that followed Him. I hope that He would have given me the sight enabling me to see Him for Who He was and is.

It was a different time in those days. But, sin is always been the same. I hope that I would have known that I needed a Savior. There was I time, in the here and now, that I didn't even care one way or the other.

In the here and now, I believe that there was something about Him that was so different, so special, that people stopped to listen to Him, no matter what. The way they responded, only God knows. But, just as today, we've all turned away from Him, during our lives. At least, I have.

I know by how my life has gone in this time and place, that I would be like the woman caught in adultery, who was brought before Him. And even though I have not seen Him face to face, He said to me also, "Neither do I condemn you; go and sin no more." Oh the Grace of God!!! Hallelujah!!!

It is all that I could ever hope for, in any lifetime, that I would belong to One such as He!!!

As for when He returns, in His Glory, there will be no mistaking who He is. For as the lightening flashes from one end of the sky to the other, so will be the coming of our LORD!!! He will set His foot upon the mount of Olives, where once He preached to the lost. But this time the earth will quake at His arrival. Once the lowly shepherds welcomed Him at His birth, but when He comes again, the rocks will cry out in honor of the Prince Of Peace!!! Glory to God!!!

SpiritledEd, John 21:8 says "they were not far from land" and if we read further on in John 21:12 it's obvious that no one recognized Him but they knew in their hearts that it was the Lord. Pixie points out the meeting on the road to Emmaus as well. The point being, the answer to the hypothetical question "would we recognize Him?" seems to be" only if He wanted us to". Just my humble opinion.

After the Lord was risen and came to the disciples as they had went back to fishing, they all saw Him on the shore. Only John knew who He was. Not by sight, but only by His voice. John said to the others, "It is the Lord." At that point, Peter jumped into the water and headed for the shore. It also tells us that none of them ever asked Him who He was. I personally think that they dared not ask Him. Yet, John knew without question, just upon hearing His voice.

The Day of Pentecost had not yet arrived. I love the way, that after the Holy Spirit fell upon the believers, they knew Him (no more questioning), and also gave their lives for His Gospel's sake too. Without His Holy Spirit, we would never know Who He is. Without His voice we would be as those who saw Him in the flesh and turned away. Without the Comforter, we would never even look to begin with, It amazes me how wonderfully the plan of our Great God works in us. Only One such as He could ordain who it is that will see Him.

This is taken from a book by: Grant R. Jeffrey (The Signature of God)
In telling how the disciples lives ended it is said of Andrew.
Andrew was crucified on an x-shaped cross in Patras, Greece. After being whipped severely by seven soldiers they tied his body to the cross with cords to prolong his agony. His followers reported that, when he was led toward the cross, Andrew saluted it in these words: "I have long desired and expected this happy hour. The cross has been consecrated by the body of Christ hanging on it." He continued to preach to his tormentors for two days until he expired.

I am in shame that I am not what I should be. .......jmh137
