1 Timothy 1:18-20
Timothy, my child, I am giving you a command that agrees with the prophecies that were given about you in the past. I tell you this so you can follow them and fight the good fight. Continue to have faith and do what you know is right. Some people have rejected this, and their faith has been shipwrecked Hymenaeus and Alexander have done that, and I have given them to Satan so they will learn not to speak against God.
Following Christ is not always easy. Do you find opposition from friends at work or college? Do people make fun of you because of what you believe? The temptations to conform are all around us. The temptation to take a day off sick to do something you want to do or to recover from a hangover? The temptation to follow the crowd instead of going to church. Our actions speak louder than our words. People around us that know we are Christians will be looking to see if we live up to what we profess. Our call is for our faith to have an influence on how we live.
How can we be an example for Christ today in our workplace? One place that we can go to for help with this journey is our local church or faith community. Here we have the opportunity to support others around us on their journey, but we mustn't forget to allow people to care for us too.
We may be feeling today that we haven't been a very good example recently. Well God is loving as well as being just, he will help us to keep on track, we just have to ask him.
Prayer
Dear Lord God, thank you for calling us to follow you 24/7. Please help us to be a witness for you in all that we say and do. Please help us to make the right decisions when we are working, so that people will want to follow you too. Amen.
