Word on the Web
Matthew 13:44
The Kingdom of Heaven is like a treasure hidden in a field. One day a man found the treasure, then he hid it in the field again. He was so happy that he went and sold everything he owned to buy the field.
Archaeologists often give great importance to the discovery of antiquities. TV shows like Cash in the Attic and Bargain Hunt, may help us to find those 'treasures' in our homes. These shows help us to see that things that apparently have no value, have in fact great value. I was recently watching a programme about mining in Northern Canada, and was amazed to hear that Uranium was once considered a waste product, today it is the source of atomic energy.
Often people look at young people and do not see the potential for them to have developed experience and understanding. But young people do have potential; they do have experiences that can prove to be of great value. We can learn so much from each other to ensure that we celebrate and hold sacred those things that are indeed valuable to us.
This scripture teaches us that when we find our treasure we must do everything in our power to see that it is used. What are you prepared to give up, in order to ensure your -treasure- is more prominent in your life? The journey of life means that we are going to continue to find the -treasures- that evolve before us. Are you looking? Or are you self centred?
Only you can ponder these questions, the answer is found in seeking God and his guidance in life.
Dear Lord, from where you are looking from, my life must look as complicated as a spider's web. I am always going here and there. Help me to stop and strengthen, with your help, each bit of the web. Help me to be reminded of the beauty that is in my life and to see the treasures evolve before me. Most of all Lord, when I feel that I am in control, help me to see that it is then that I should follow your commands closely. Amen.
