Dealing with disappointment (2)
'Now go, lead the people...' Exodus 32:34
Here are two more types of disappointment you'll deal with in life:
1) Disappointment in those you work with. In life you need people, going it alone sometimes sounds attractive but the reality is pretty harsh, that's why we choose to work together. But when the people in your team fail you it hurts. Imagine Moses' disappointment. He left his brother Aaron in charge while he went to meet with God. When he came back Aaron had totally lost the plot and made the people a fake God; a golden cow! But watch Moses; his true leadership shines in the face of this disappointment. He confronts Aaron, takes it to God for resolution, and prays forgiveness for Israel. With God on his side Moses makes some great decisions and the horrible mess gets sorted out.
2) Disappointment in those you've poured your life into. Let's check in again with Moses, Pastor of the 'Church of the Ungrateful'. This congregation of former slaves were on their way to the Promised Land, but how did show their thanks to the man who put everything on the line to make it possible? By moaning and groaning and blaming him for everything bad that happened (Exodus 14). Was Moses disappointed and hurt? Yes. But each time he wanted to quit he'd come to God and offload. You know you can do that too, right?
