You have access to God
'Let's walk right up to him and get what he is so ready to give.' HEBREWS 4:16
Are you finding prayer hard work? Maybe you're not really hearing from God or you're just not 'feeling it'. Maybe God doesn't seem to be answering your prayers at all so it all just seems a bit pointless. NEWSFLASH: It's not about you! God is not Santa, a jolly chap waiting to give you everything you ask as long as you've been good. God is the great I Am, Jesus died a gruesome death, for you! He is worthy of all your praise, your time, your prayer, everything you can give Him whether you feel the tingle or not! At the same time, God is loving and does actually want to have a relationship with you. This means that when you come to Him He does listen and He does want to draw close to you.
If your prayer times involve a lot of mind-wandering and sleeping, try focusing on God, not yourself. Worship Him, praise Him, and refuse to let go. He wants to take you right into His throne-room (that's the room where He's on His throne!) and once you're in God's presence like that, you won't be falling asleep! It's there that you will learn God's voice and understand who it is you're dealing with. God wants to bless you, He also wants to challenge, shape and transform you. This is going to be hard and takes discipline, but it's so worth it!
