Water - walking
'PETER REPLIED, "TELL ME TO COME TO YOU ON THE WATER.' MATTHEW 14:28
Now that you're all fully fledged water-walkers, dry your little pinkies with a towel and consider why we don't see more water-walking in our local swimming baths?
1) Rubber armbands have replaced faith. We can trust a little piece of rubber wrapped around our arms to keep us afloat in the baths, but we struggle to trust the creator of the universe to keep us afloat in life.
If Jesus is on the water asking you to come, will you go?
2) Water-walking is so yesterday. It was all the range in Galilee 2000 years ago, but miracles don't happen nowadays, do they? 'Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever' (Hebrews 13:8 NKJV). That means He can do just what He did then even now. So strap on those flippers, its water trudging time!
3) It's scary at the deep end. What happens if you sink? It sure is a long way down to the bottom. Jesus was still held up by the very water that was sinking Peter. Peter's problem wasn't the water, it was his doubt. Whatever step of faith we're taking, the issue isn't the water, it's our doubt.
OK, so unless you distinctly see Jesus at your swimming baths calling you to moonwalk across the pool, best stick to the front crawl. But think about in which areas Jesus asking you to trust Him against the odds?
