'Be still before the LORD and wait patiently for him' PSALM 37:7
Waiting! Not many of us enjoy waiting do we? Waiting for the bus to come, school to finish, or even for the microwave to warm up our leftover pizza. We don't want to wait do we? It's hard. When we want something we want it NOW!!!. 'Hurry up!' we shout at our friend who's late or the shop assistant who's serving. Just hurry up!! It's Christmas Eve and everyone's waiting for Christmas Day.
Are you one of those people who can't wait to see their presents so has already found them and even opened a few? It can be hard to wait. But the Bible tells us to 'Be still before the LORD and wait patiently for Him'. Waiting for God patiently, not screaming at Him to hurry up but patiently waiting, being still; listening for God, not rushing ahead of Him.
It can be hard to wait! When we want something to happen and nothing is changing, it can be so tempting for us to try and make that change ourselves. Recently a little girl died, because a cyclist couldn't wait for her to move out his way, he ploughed into her, knocking her to the floor, unconscious. Days later she was dead. It's important to wait. Sometimes it's a matter of life and death. Ask God, today, to give you the patience to wait when you need to. To do things in His time not yours.
