'...if you have faith...' Matthew 17:20
When the disciples came down from the Mountain they encountered an epileptic boy who kept having fits. His dad was totally desperate. What happened next was a valuable lesson for them, and for us...
4) Do what you've always done, get what you've always got. It takes more than personality and religious catch-phrases to set people free from illness; and this was a biggie! Sadly the disciples were powerless because they were prayerless. Jesus said: '...this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting' (Matthew 17:21 NAS). Persistent prayer is the price we pay for walking in power.
5) Rise above the attitudes you see around you. Jesus confronted the core problem: '..."O faithless...generation"' (Matthew 17:17 NKJV). Now before you say 'That's a bit heavy JC!' just think, why should we act all wishy-washy in the face of a faithless generation moulded by godless media.
If we let it, it will pull us down and wear us out. So we need to get tough. That day Jesus said, '"If you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, 'Move'"...and it will move"' (Matthew 17:20-21 NIV). Here's two final thoughts:
a) 'If you have faith.' Everybody around you doesn't have to have faith in order for you to see miracles
b) you don't have to be a spiritual giant; just use your ickle mustard-seed faith and God will move stuff for you.
