Under pressure (2)
'Take my yoke upon you and learn from me.' Matthew 11:29
Notice how some people on a rollercoaster close their eyes, clench their teeth and wait for the ride to end, while up front the wide-eyed thrill-seekers relish every peak and plunge? They're all on the same trip, but their attitudes are entirely different. God wants us to live life 'to the max', so asks us to learn from Him. He only gives us good advice.
The question is, are you going to use it?
1. Watch your eating and drinking: 'Don't drink too much wine and get drunk; don't eat too much food and get fat. Drunks and gluttons will end up on skid row' (Prov. 23:20 -21).
2. Tell the truth - always: 'The LORD detests lying lips, but he delights in those who tell the truth' (Prov. 12:22).
3. Do good: 'We are God's workmanship, created ... to do good works, which God prepared ... for us to do' (Eph. 2:10).
4. Don't be a slacker: 'Do not ... become lazy, but to imitate those who through faith and patience inherit what has been promised' (Heb. 6:12).
5. Concentrate on the inside not the outside: 'Don't be concerned about the outward beauty of fancy hairstyles, expensive jewelry, or beautiful clothes. You should clothe yourselves instead with the beauty that comes from within ... which is so precious to God' (1 Pet. 3: 3-4).
6. Read your Bible: 'Every part of Scripture is God-breathed and useful one way or another-showing us truth, exposing our rebellion, correcting our mistakes, training us to live God's way' (2 Tim. 3:16).
