Trust the pilot
'THE JUST SHALL LIVE BY FAITH.' HEBREWS 10:38
Have you been on a plane when it all starts getting a bit bumpy and wobbly? You don't immediately rush for the emergency escape door do you? No, you sit tight and trust the pilot. Faith's a bit like that. Walking by faith doesn't mean your problems suddenly evaporate.
In fact, when you make up your mind to put your faith in God the odds will often be stacked against you. But check this out: before faith changes your circumstances, it changes you by giving you the strength to hang in there. Faith gives you the mental and emotional strength to get through stuff, confident that God is working on your behalf. 'Faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.' (Hebrews 11:1-2 NIV).
In practical terms faith means:
a) totally trusting God
b) following in the footsteps of ordinary people who did extraordinary things
c) flexing your faith, because it's power from heaven.
When the Bible says, 'The just shall live by faith,' it doesn't mean little bursts every now and again. No, it's talking about a lifestyle! Most boxers survive the first few rounds in the ring; only the best can get knocked down in the ninth and still get back up to fight on and win. So forget your circumstances, diss your doubts and start punching by faith!
