TLC... For Me?
'The Lord ... knows how weak we are' Psalm 103:13-14
Do you love those bits in films when you see a character's dream scenario acted out? Chick-flicks always have at least one. The scene opens with Crystal the Cheerleader, plunging her apple pie chops around a fatty cheeseburger bigger than her own vain head. Suddenly the shot changes to the school bell ringing, it's dream-over and it's back to class for Crystal and her half-eaten celery stick.
Would the film of your dream look like this? Your possessed mock papers fly around you, whilst you furiously write an essay with one hand, stop your little brother sticking a biro nib in his head with the other and let your heartbroken friend squeeze you like her Care Bear, as you give her the same advice you did yesterday. But then you stop it all by yelling, ' Enough!' they all vanish and, behold, you're on a beach in Ibiza.
You might love your family and friends and want to help them out, but sometimes it can get a bit much. Don't suffer in silence: it's alright to ask for help too, you know. The Bible says: 'A person standing alone can be ... defeated, but two can stand back-to-back and conquer. Three are even better' (Ecc. 4:12 NLT). Also, drinking up truth like a Jesus brew can relax and revitalise you like nothing else: 'Are you tired? ... burned out with religion? Get away with me and you'll recover your life.' (Matt. 11:28 TM)
