The power of passion (4)
'His word is in my heart like a fire.' JEREMIAH 20:9
If you've ever built a fire you'll know it eventually goes out if you don't keep topping it up. There are two kinds of peeps you will meet in life: The fire-fuellers and the fire-quenchers.
The fire-fuellers help you and push you to be better; the fire-quenchers will try stopping you and holding you back. How can you tell the difference? People who quench your fire usually say things like: 'you can't do that... we tried before but it didn't work... don't try change things when there's no need... you don't have the talent', and stuff like that. If you've heard this before from other people around you, pray for them, love them, but don't let them affect you.
These people always see what's wrong rather than what's right. They stop you from trying to be the best by putting out your fire. Sometimes they do this on purpose and other times they don't know that they're doing it. Spend more time with fire-fuellers because they don't look at you and see you the way you are, but see what you can be. They want you to burn hotter and brighter! There's about 200 million Christians in the Chinese church today. One of the guys who helped fuel the fire was a dude called Hudson Taylor. He said, 'The sun has never risen in China in 40 years, without me on my knees in prayer.' That's passion!
