The path to the throne (5)
'I have found David...a man after My own heart' ACTS 13:22
The Bible says: 'And David said with longing, "Oh, that someone would give me a drink of the water from the well of Bethlehem..." So the three mighty men broke through the camp of the Philistines, drew water from the well...took it and brought it to David.' (2 Samuel 23:15-16 NKJV).
What an amazing story! These three 'commandoes' risked their lives; for a glass of water!
1) Are you ready to be someone like that? Do you have true loyalty to your leaders and your mates or are you only 'in it for what you can get out of it'? No wonder David said, 'I am a friend to anyone who fears you-anyone who obeys your commandments. (Psalm 119:63 NLT)
2) Will you refuse to settle for less than God's best? These men risked their lives to bring David a glass of precious water from the well in his home town. They didn't stop at any of the other wells on the way and then pretend it was 'Bethlehem Spring'! Only the genuine article, the best of the best, would do for the king.
Think and pray about those two points for a while. Which one does God want to highlight to you today? Is there a situation in which he wants you to show extra courage or commitment? Is there an opportunity to do something with exceptional effort or excellence? Listen, hear, then do!
