'Keep your tongue from evil...' Psalm 34:13

Imagine, '"Jesus of Nazareth", the Director's cut'. The DVD extras of the bits they never used. Including the scene where Jesus stitches up Judas before he can reach for his pieces of silver. Or the scene where Jesus becomes the last Samurai, and together with Peter they chop off all the lynch mobs' ears. Or even the deleted 'resurrection scene', where Jesus comes back to life, but this time it's personal; He wants revenge! It just doesn't fit with the rest of the story does it? It doesn't sit with His teachings. It stands against all the Christian faith has to offer. When Peter sliced off the High Priests' ear, Jesus rebuked him and healed the man's ability to hear.

What about us? Do the things we say or do just stand against all the Christian faith has to offer? Do our habits not fit with the rest of the story? Do we cut off people's ability to hear the message of God through the hurtful words we speak? We can't just fly off the handle whenever we feel like it. We must be sensitive to God: If He tells us, 'Say nothing,' we must keep schtum. How many times do we show the DVD extra bits, that just aren't part of the story? When we get off script we ruin God's story. Stick to the facts. Stick to the story.
