Soaking in the good stuff
'"Whatever is in your heart determines what you say."' Matthew 12:34
Have you ever tried cleaning a car using a sponge and a bucket of dirty water? No matter how clean and nice the sponge is to start off with, as soon as it squelches in that mucky bucket, all you'll get out of it is gunky water. No matter how much you squeeze it out, it won't get clean again until you put it in some nice clean soapy water. Use that sort of water, and you'll get the car sparkling in no time. The sponge is only ever going to be as effective as what it soaks up.
What's that got to do with today's word? Think about it. You're the sponge, and if you soak up dirty stuff, you're going to give out dirty stuff. How can you hope to clean up your life if you're not immersing yourself in something sparkly and great?
The only way to make sure you're saying the right stuff, acting the right way and living the way God wants, is to soak yourself in Him, right to your core, your heart. Spend time reading the Bible. Make it a priority to pray. Fill yourself with God's goodness, and it'll spill over into your relationships, your life, just about everything. Today, make sure you're soaking up the good stuff, and filling your heart with God, so that everything that comes out of your mouth is good and godly.
