Show your parents how it's done!
'another generation arose after them who did not know the Lord' JUDGES 2:10
When Joshua was almost ready to pop his clogs, he called the nation's big bosses together for a bit of a business meeting. The leaders could remember being supernaturally fed for forty years, seeing the Red Sea sliced in two and the walls of Jericho crumbling. Knowing this, our mate Josh asks them who they're gonna serve. What's the response? 'Israel served the Lord all the days of Joshua...' (Joshua 24:31 NKJV). Sounds great so far! But it's not all as rosy as it looks. They served God partly, and only when it suited them. The one thing they had to do after Josh was dead and gone, was to hoover up the last pockets of pagan worship. But Israel '...did not drive out the inhabitants...' (Judges 1:27 NKJV).
While Joshua had been fully committed to God, the others were only partly committed. So what were the consequences? Their kids messed up big time (Read how in Judges 2:10-19). What shaped the spiritual values of these children? The compromise of their parents! Parents don't always get it right; but unlike these guys here, you can get it right. You don't have to follow the path that everyone else around you is taking; instead, follow God's path, and do things His way. Flip it on its head and be an example to your parents, showing them that if you can live God's way, so can they.
