Sack it!
'The best...I can do is escape to Philistine country.' 1 SAMUEL 27:1
The 'sack it' mentality is something to watch out for. You know what I mean, Church seems boring, all your other mates are out drinking and sleeping around, your heart thinks, 'sack it' and before you know it your brain's pickled with half a vat of bad cider. Or, its just you and the whole world wide web alone in a room, you tell yourself, 'sack it; what harm can it do?', so you click on that site you know you shouldn't.
Or even, that moment you know you should walk away from an argument, but the red mist descends, the knuckles harden, every muscle screams, 'sack it', and you just let rip.
David had his 'sack it' moments. On the run from Saul in 1 Samuel 27, he tells himself sooner or later he's dead meat, 'The best...I can do is escape to Philistine country.' For anyone who doesn't know, Philistine country was David's old battleground, and the last place he should be heading.
As soon as we say, 'sack it', we head for the last place we should be going. It's 'destination trouble' all the way. And for a while it feels good. Beware of anything that gives you an instant fix; junk food, drugs, sin, they all fill a hole temporarily, but in the long run they'll mess you up. So you'd best sack off the 'sack it' mentality.
