Ready, set, go
'Be dressed ready for service ...' Luke 12:35
Whilst most of us would still be fiddling with the odour-eaters in our plimsolls, Usain Bolt has already won the race, whistled his national anthem and cartwheeled all the way back to Jamaica. How? Because he's the fastest man on the planet; the guy has speed written into his DNA.
The Bible often has Usain Bolt moments: again and again we read words like straightaway, immediately, and suddenly, giving us reminders that God often moves with speed written in His DNA. Maybe it feels like you're going through a 'God in slow-mo' patch right now.
You've been praying for something again and again, but nothing seems to be happening. Well, perhaps you're just a prayer away from one of God's 'suddenly' moments. John 5 might be just what you need to hear.
For absolutely yonks, a paralysed man has been sat next to a pool with the right properties for his healing, but nobody would help him into it. How frustrating! Enter stage left Jesus, and we get a completely different scene. No longer is the man sat inches away from his solution, but rather he is face-to-face with the solution. A 38-year wait ends with a suddenly of God.
What about you? Are you waiting for God's suddenly in your life? Take heart, sometimes God moves swifter than Usain Bolt. What counts is being ready.
