Need more strength? Wait on God!
'but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength...' Isaiah 40:31
When you pray to God, do you get a text from Him a few minutes later saying when and how He'll answer your prayer? Not likely! But God does promise that if we wait on Him, He will give us strength. Think of it a bit like papier mache; did you ever make it at primary school? You know, where you stick newspaper to a balloon. Newspaper itself isn't strong; it's well easy to rip. But the more layers you put on, the stronger it gets, until in the end, it's almost impossible to break.
You're a bit like that balloon. Every time you wait on the Lord, another layer of paper is added, and you get a bit stronger. So if you're feeling like things are tough and you can't do it yourself, just wait on Him, read your Bible, pray; you will get stronger. Don't panic; 'waiting' doesn't have to be all about sitting cross legged in silence, meditating. Sometimes it can be proactive too.
If you're 'waiting' on someone in a restaurant, you're seeing to their needs; so sometimes, weird as it sounds, waiting on God involves proactively doing God's will, and serving others. Do you need more strength? Well grab hold of this promise that's yours as a child of God: 'Wait on the Lord; be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart...' (Psalm 27:14 NKJV).
