Look Out!
'...God will help her at break of day.' Psalm 46:5
Life can be pretty unstable ... who knows when your world will be suddenly turned upside down? If you ever feel like that, here are five things from Psalm 46 to look out for:
1) Look out for His provision. 'There is a river whose streams make glad ...' (Psalm 46:4 NIV). In Old Testament symbolism, rivers represent God's supply for your every need. When other sources of supply are drying up, don't fear, look for the river
2) Look out for His presence. The Bible describes the '... city of God, the holy place where the Most High dwells' (Psalm 46:4 NIV). God's city is a symbol of His presence, and where his presence is there is peace and order
3) Look out for His newness. 'God will help [you] at break of day' (Psalm 46:5 NIV). Daybreak is a symbol of new beginnings, this gives you confidence that beyond every time of trouble and testing is a new day
4) Look out for His works. 'Come...see the works of the Lord ...' (Psalm 46:8 NIV). Noticing afresh the amazing things God does every day, the small things as well as the big things will build your faith muscles back up again1
5) Look out for His peace. Your life is built on the rock solid foundation of His faithfulness so you can live by the Scripture, 'Be still, and know that I am God ...' (Psalm 46:10 NIV).
