Let it go (3) - Broad shoulders.
'I persecuted the church' GALATIANS 1:13
Right, part 3.
Today you have to let go of what you've done to others. The things we've done to others can weigh us down like a ton of bricks - the guilt can really drag you down, even if they say it's fine now. It's a bit like living in 'A Christmas Carol', with the ghost of your past not letting you move on in life. How do you live with the things you've done?
Take Saul (Paul) as an example, and you'll soon feel better about yourself! You can definitely learn from him, he was someone who had really messed up - he'd torn Christians from their families and dragged them away to be beaten and killed. Then he converted to Christianity himself, and went around preaching to and meeting the widows and kids of the guys he'd done over. How did he deal with that guilt?
He had two choices, and so do we; either try and carry it around, and probably collapse in the process, or find someone with shoulders big enough to take it from us. What did Paul do?
Enter Jesus, who has the biggest shoulders you could ever hope for. Paul handed it to Him, and thanked God for it. Check out Romans 7:24-25. God showed him mercy, and he let go of the hurts he'd caused, knowing God could heal them. Trust God to do the same for you, and let it go.
