'Forgiving one another...as God...has forgiven you.' EPHESIANS 4:32
What's the worst thing you've ever done? Did you get caught? Well imagine if whatever it was you did was tattooed on your forehead for everyone to see. Not nice thoughts are they... quick, let's do some happy imagining instead! Well imagine you're walking down the busy high street in your hometown, and everyone's giving you evil looks and tut-tutting. Suddenly, a guy steps out in front of you and looks you right in the eye. He has the strangest expression on His face; it's not the judgemental look everyone else gives you; it's sort of, a smile. He breaks your stunned silence with a few softly spoken words, 'Can I help you?' 'Please, I want it to be gone,' you reply shakily. He reaches into one of His deep coat pockets and pulls out a little make-up mirror and holds it up to your face. The writing's disappeared! How do you feel now?
That story isn't about God being soft on sin. His love won't let you off; but His love won't let you go either.
'Nothing can separate us from the love of God' (Romans 8:38-39). As soon as you admit your issues to Jesus and express to Him how much you truly want to change He just goes right ahead and hits the delete button on all that stuff. It's called forgiveness and it's the best thing in the whole world!
