Have you heard?
'..."God is back, looking to the needs of his people!"...' Luke 7:17
Jesus walks into a village and sees a woman as she wails and staggers alongside the body of her son being carried for burial. Luke says: 'When Jesus saw her, his heart broke. He said to her, "Don't cry." Then He went over and touched the coffin ... He said, "Young man, I tell you: Get up." The dead son sat up and began talking ... They all realized they were in a place of holy mystery, that God was at work among them. They were quietly worshipful - and then noisily grateful, calling out among themselves, "God is back, looking to the needs of his people!"
The news of Jesus spread all through the country.' Many of the Jews believed that God had forgotten about them. The Romans were in charge now, and life was a nightmare, there was no hope.
Then the stories start: 'Have you heard about the man preaching something new or about the healings or the people getting free food?' 'Have you heard He makes friends with losers and sinners or about that lad raised from the dead?' For the religious leaders these stories were full of heresy but for the lost, sick, broken and abused, the stories were full of hope.
If you are one of the six billion people in the world who hasn't got life sorted: Have you heard? God is back, looking to the needs of his people!
