Have you got a 'guard God'?
'... He will order his angels to protect you wherever you go.' Psalm 91:11
Every two weeks a missionary went to a city to buy medical supplies for the hospital where he worked. One time, he saw two men scrapping. One was really hurt, so he stopped, treated him and shared God's love with him. Then he headed home, camping in the jungle overnight.
When he visited the city two weeks later, the man he'd helped came up to him and said, 'I knew you carried money and medicine with you, so our gang followed you, planning to kill you for money and drugs. When we were about to attack, we saw 26 armed guards surrounding you.' The missionary replied, 'That's impossible; I was alone.' But the man insisted he'd seen them.
Months later, he found out that at that exact time, 26 people from his home church had gathered to pray for him. Recognise the number? So, what's the point? The point is, God's your guard: 'He will order his angels to protect you wherever you go.'
The missionary was doing God's work, and telling people about God's love. But he also knew the importance of having people backing him up in his life by praying for him. Never underestimate how important it is to have prayer behind you in everything. OK, so maybe you're not a missionary in Africa; but you are a missionary in your school, your family, your town. So get asking people to pray for you; we all need God's protection, all the time.
