'Friends come and friends go but a true friend sticks by you like family' PROVERBS 18:24
You've heard the saying 'you know who your mates are' It's used when a friendship is being tested right! Having a good mate in your life is a bit like riding on a bus; you have to move over and let them sit with you for the journey, including all the baggage that comes with them. When you let them do that you're saying 'you matter to me'. The two things we look for in mates are
1) they won't bail out when the going gets tough, and
2) whatever stupid stuff you do won't stop them being mates and standing by you.
Solomon was an important dude in the Bible and he wrote 'friends come and friends go but a true friend sticks by you like family'. Having one quality mate is better than having loads of not so good mates! Don't be too quick to write someone off coz they made a mistake or messed up with you. If your bike had a flat you wouldn't dump it just for that would you? Nah, you'd fix it. In a similar way, work on fixing your friendships.
Yeah they're gonna be up and down but your quality mates can be relied on in the tough times, when you need a lift or feeling down they are there to pick you up. Life ain't built on what you get, it's built on friendships; so keep working at yours today.
