God's got too much invested in you
'...we were...chosen...' Ephesians 1:11
One of the impossible mysteries of God is how He can know all about our life and how it will unfold even though He has blessed us with free will to make whatever choices we want. It's mind boggling! The Message version of the Bible puts it this way: 'He had his eye on us, had designs on us for glorious living, part of the overall purpose he is working out in everything and everyone.' Within that purpose God knows the things (and people!) you'll be attracted to and also the things (and people again!) that you'll want to run from!
When Jonah tried to run from God and go to Tarshish, God loved him too much to let him escape his destiny so He sent a storm to wreck the boat and get Jonah back on track. Jonah was squeezed into a desperate place of prayer and then God answered him, by sending him off to his original destination.
And God loves you too; much too much to let you escape His plans for you. God has too much invested in you to let you get away. If you have to leave behind a relationship, or an addiction, or a selfish dream, you'll come. Why? Because the echo of God's voice deep in your heart will never go silent. So, for your own good, make up your mind to follow Him today.
