God is with you
'The Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace.' NUMBERS 6:26
The Bible tells many a yarn about God promising to look after big-bearded men in long flowing robes. Enoch, Noah, Abraham, Jacob, Joseph, Moses to name but a few. It also tells a tale or two about God promising to look after big-bearded women in long flowing robes: Sarah, Ruth, Naomi, Mary to name just a few (OK, so the thing about beards is a 'extra-biblical information' as they say!).
But why so many tales with the same running theme? Has the author just padded out the book with the same stories to make it look big and impressive? NO. The answer is simple. We humans can be a little bit thick, and we need constant reminding that God is for us, not against us. The most frequent promise in the Bible is, 'I will be with you' (Check Joshua 1:5 for example). It's the one that kept all those big bearded men and women going!
And it's the one that will keep today's hoodie-wearing rabble going too. Mister stutter himself, Moses, famously prayed, 'The Lord turn His face toward you and give you peace'. Do you believe it? Do you believe that God is looking you full in the face and smiling at the very thought of you? Well whatever you choose to believe doesn't alter the truth.
God is looking out for you. So stroke your beard with this: 'Do not be afraid or discouraged...the Lord...is with you...' (Joshua 1:9 NLT).
