'Run in such a way that you...win.' 1 CORINTHIANS 9:24
Today, we're going back in time....Imagine you're at primary school, and it's that day of the year you either love or hate; sports day! You've either been looking forward to it, or dreading it, for the same reason; because you want to win! Whether it's the three-legged, the obstacle, the egg and spoon race or the sprint, you run your heart out to win. And if you don't win, you're determined to try even harder next year.
When little kids race, they put so much into it, even if they're unlikely to win, they still run their hardest and try for first place! That's the way we should be in our relationship with God. We should want the best, we should always be trying to get closer to Him. You'd never enter a race expecting or wanting to lose it, would you? No matter what, you try your very best, you want to win.
Do you ever look at your mates and think that their relationship with God is so much deeper and better than yours, that theirs is taking off, while you're going round in circles? That's probably because they've committed to pursuing God until His presence is real in their lives; and God honours that commitment. You can get that too; so get back that childish enthusiasm you had, and don't take your eyes off the finish line. Go forGo for Gold! Gold in your relationship with God.
