Go for gold!
'...I've got my eye on the goal, where God is beckoning us onward-to Jesus.' Philippians 3:14
Did you watch any of the Olympics back in the summer? Thousands of people meeting together, trying desperately to be the best and win the gold medal. Now, do you think that any of the people who actually won gold just turned up on the day with no planning? Did they just wake up and decide they fancied winning a medal that day? Of course not! Your relationship with God is a bit like a race, so follow these key tips to help you get it right:
1) Be prepared. Make sure you know your race, and know your prize.
2) Good foundations lead to good results. You won't get there without training, and doing your homework on what obstacles you might come across.
3) Being 100% fit gives you the best head start. No athlete would go into a race without being fit for it, so exercise in your bible reading and praying.
4) Keep your eye on the goal. Focus on your prize; an eternity with Jesus. Watch a sprint race on TV; all the athletes are so focused on the finish line that nothing distracts them from getting there. It might feel like those around you are running a different route, or following a different training programme. You may even feel you're in the wrong race sometimes. Don't let that distract you from God's plan for you. Stay close to Him, know your race, focus on the prize; and you'll get the gold.
