Get passionate

'So we built the wall ...' Nehemiah 4:6

We're back with Nehemiah and his wall today. Remember how impressed the bullies were with the speed he rebuilt the walls of Jerusalem (and that's a lot of walls!) last week? Question: So how on earth did he do it? Answer: Passion! Nehemiah gave up a high-profile job, overcame relentless opposition, and worked passionately. What can we learn about passion today?

1) Passion is your first step to achievement. Your desire, not your GCSE results or your DNA, finally determine your destiny. The greater your desire, the greater your potential.

2) Passion will increase your willpower. Only when you want something badly enough will you pay the price to achieve it.

3) Passion will change you. When your desires are in harmony with God's will and you follow them with a passion, you can't help but become a more productive person.

4) Passion will make the impossible, possible. Sometimes, even the experts get it wrong - so watch out! In 1895 Lord Kelvin said, 'Heavier-than-air flying machines are not possible.' In 1905 the US President said, 'Sensible and responsible women do not want to vote.' In 1923 Nobel Prize in Physics laureate Robert Millikan said, 'There's no likelihood man can ever tap the power of the atom.' Hmmm, I think they all got that a bit wrong somehow!

Jesus said, '... with God all things are possible' (Mark 10:27 NKJ). When you become passionate about God's purposes, He'll show you what's possible.
