Full of life
'... My purpose is to give them a rich ... satisfying life.' John 10:10
Jesus didn't come to this earth so that you would get good grades; or get into the university you want to; or get you a good job. Jesus came so that you...'may have life, and have it to the full' (John 10:10 NIV).
Though getting good grades or landing that dream job are not bad things in themselves, getting bogged down with the worrying about them can be. John Lennon once sang, 'Life is what happens while you're busy making other plans'. If we're not careful, we can be so wrapped up in 'doing tomorrow' that we miss out on living today.
Isn't that what Jesus meant when He said, 'Can all your worries add a single moment to your life?' (Matthew 6:27 NLT). Instead of adding more time or giving you a better life, worry bleeds your happiness and sucks your health dry.
So, how about taking the time to detox your worry-life and reinvigorate your God given-life. Why not go for a walk without a reason? Nope, there's no Miss Selfridge at the end of your rainbow.
Turn off the iPod, put on your wellies, and go find nature. Why not read without revising; blub your way through Jane Austen for the fun of it and not for the exam at the end of it. Or why not paint a mural or join a band or ... whatever it is that will start you treating life as a want-to-do-list rather than a have-to-do-list.
