Father's Day
'We know who he is, and we know who we are; Father and children' ROMANS 8:16
Today is 'Father's day'. For some people today means spoiling your dad rotten, breakfast in bed, 18 holes on the golf course, dinner on the table; a day for celebrating dads. For others, today means something else. Maybe dad left home years ago. Maybe, nobody knows who dad is. Maybe dad dominated, abused or controlled. What do you think of when you hear the word 'Father'? Protection; provision; love; or something quite the opposite?
Whatever your experience of 'dad' is, know this: You are a loved child of a heavenly father, who wouldn't have you any other way. If you have a loving dad here on earth who wishes to be involved in the details of your life, you have a pretty good picture of God as a father to go off. If your dad has let you down in some way, you may have a distorted picture of God's love for you.
Whatever, truth is, your heavenly father was there when you first took your wobbly steps as a baby. Your heavenly father was there when you uttered your first word. He was there through all your hurts and disappointments. He was there when it felt like nobody else in the world cared. He was there; he cared. Why? Because He's your perfect Father. He loves you with a perfect love.
However you spend this Father's day, how about making a little space to celebrate your Heavenly Father.
