Fame or faith?

'A good and honest life is a blessed memorial; a wicked life leaves a rotten stench.' PROVERBS 10:7

A cheerful thought for you today; one day, you'll die! When you do, what will people remember you for; fame, or faith? Barnabas isn't the most famous guy in the Bible, but he's called '...a good man...full of...faith...' (Acts 11:24 NIV)

He wasn't a 'Paul', doing the kinds of things that made him stand out, and he's only mentioned three times in Acts: for selling his land to help finance God's works; vouching for Paul's character; and giving John Mark a second chance.

Barnabas didn't earn much fame, but he was known for his faith! The Bible says: 'A good and honest life is blessed'; in God's eyes it's not what society considers important that counts, but faith.

Check out the story of the rich man and Lazarus (Luke 16:19-31). For starters, we know Lazarus' name, but we don't have a clue who the rich man was? He may have been famous when he was alive, but where did that get him with God? Precisely nowhere! He had no faith on earth, and now he's only remembered as a nameless 'how not to do it' example!

Lazarus may not have had the best life, or been known for anything special when he was alive, but his memory is much more blessed than the rich man's. So how will you be remembered when you're gone; for fame, or faith? Start living that good and honest faith-filled life today.
