Don't just pray, listen!

'I judge only as I hear' JOHN 5:30

Ever wonder why Jesus was always on form and knew what to do? He tells us: Jesus gave them this answer: 'I tell you the truth, the Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees his Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does. For the Father loves the Son and shows him all he does.' (John 5:19-20 NIV) and 'By myself I can do nothing; I judge only as I hear, and my judgment is just, for I seek not to please myself but him who sent me.' (John 5:30 NIV).

Here's the secret, Jesus didn't just talk to His Dad, He took time to listen and get instructions. Your parents might say that you never listen to them and they are chatting away right in your ear; so how do you do when it comes to listening to your heavenly Dad?

It's not easy, but when the Bible says, 'Pray without ceasing' (1 Thessalonians 5:17), it means we are to stay in touch with God at all times, to be spiritually sensitive and attuned to the still small voice of His Spirit within us. That calls for having an uncluttered mind and heart. It's easy to tell God what we want but what does He want? God designed the plan for your life; so today, why not get quiet before Him, so that He can tell you about it?

I agree

Hey Lady, U have got it right. If everyone would listen for that still small voice, more christians would be on fire for Jesus! I try to keep my mind on Jesus all day long. When I need answers I ask then I listen for his reply. Sometimes it takes a week sometimes a few minutes. Keep Jesus on your mind and he will lead and guide us into all truth. He will let us know what he wants us to do for him. Lots of love and prayers, Sis. Di

Great post Sister LLJ, you gave for many of us some thing to ponder.

God bless

This spoke to me. It's so difficult to hear that still small voice sometimes. I battle quite often with just clutter in my mind. Just thoughts upon thoughts.

How do you all battle for clarity in your minds/hearts so that you are able to hear His voice?

keeping our mind clear for Jesus

The way I fight to keep my clear may sound silly to some. I love the word of God! So, when it says, pray without ceasing, I try to think about Jesus as much as I possibly can. I remind myself through out the day of to keep a song of praise in my heart. sometimes when I try to clear my mind to talk to Jesus, The devil causes everything to run through my mind. Therefore keeping me from praying or listening. It's then I just stop and start rebuking the devil in the name of Jesus. The bible says to resist the devil and he will flee from you. Then if I still can't stop my mind from rusing thoughts. I begin to save Jesus Jesus over and over and over.We have to learn how to fight Satan. He loves to mess with our thinking. So we cannot get closer to the Lord.Have you ever said something and new it was wrong as soon as the words came out of your mouth? This was the Lord communing with you. Telling you what you said was wrong.Keep praying and fighting for your right to talk and listen to The Lord. You will see this is true if you try it. Also, ask for the baptism of the Holy Ghost if you don't already have it.This is what leads and guides you into all truth Lots of prayers!!
