Don't just pray, listen!
'I judge only as I hear' JOHN 5:30
Ever wonder why Jesus was always on form and knew what to do? He tells us: Jesus gave them this answer: 'I tell you the truth, the Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees his Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does. For the Father loves the Son and shows him all he does.' (John 5:19-20 NIV) and 'By myself I can do nothing; I judge only as I hear, and my judgment is just, for I seek not to please myself but him who sent me.' (John 5:30 NIV).
Here's the secret, Jesus didn't just talk to His Dad, He took time to listen and get instructions. Your parents might say that you never listen to them and they are chatting away right in your ear; so how do you do when it comes to listening to your heavenly Dad?
It's not easy, but when the Bible says, 'Pray without ceasing' (1 Thessalonians 5:17), it means we are to stay in touch with God at all times, to be spiritually sensitive and attuned to the still small voice of His Spirit within us. That calls for having an uncluttered mind and heart. It's easy to tell God what we want but what does He want? God designed the plan for your life; so today, why not get quiet before Him, so that He can tell you about it?
