Dead men don't walk
'... I am the resurrection and the life ...' John 11:25
We perhaps move into resurrection gear a little too smoothly. We've read the book, seen the film, we know the ending; today doesn't come as a shock. This morning you may have already been to church, sang the songs, waved the 'Jesus is alive' flags. We know what to expect out of today. But hang on a minute; think about it: dead bodies do not just get up and walk. Something far more important than your face full of Cadbury's Creme Egg is going on today. Dead bodies do not just get up and walk.
We read that the women 'were frightened and bowed their faces to the ground' (Luke 24:1-12) because common sense told them dead men don't walk. Perhaps, we need to put a hallelujah in our step again, completely shocked that all things dead can now walk and talk. Jesus gives us confidence that nothing is ever dead and buried if you have a little faith. Dead dreams, dead relationships, dead emotions, can all rise back to life with a little faith. God didn't stop the show once Jesus appeared for an encore; no sir, He'd only just begun.
Resurrection is about God bringing life where there is death. God doesn't live with death, He only moves in life. So, whether it's your own personal faith, your long-lost vision or whatever, God wants to bring life back to you today.
