Control your anger (2)
'Refrain from anger and turn from wrath' Psalm 37:8
A bad temper is not something to be proud of, but prayed over. When you blow your top, you just reveal your contents. And which of us hasn't done that, and regretted it? Here's three ways to get your lid firmly back on!
1) Less is more: By cramming too much stuff into too little time, you wind yourself up! Like violin strings that are pulled too tight, you end up snapping, then feeling guilty because you're not 'spiritual' enough. 'Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the measure of faith God has given you.' (Romans 12:3-4 NIV).
2) Don't be a hammer: If you want to get on in life you'll need to tackle different problems in different ways. People whose only tool is a hammer have got no choice but to treat every problem like a nail. Before long they've got holes all over the house, so put the hammer (anger) down! You know, the bible describes 9 different fruit of the spirit but not one of them is anger (see Galatians 5:22)
3) What's the point: Sometimes 'enough is enough' and you need to speak up. When Jesus got angry in the temple he had a point because poor people were being ripped off and he was drawing attention to it. In this case, '...if you know the right thing to do and don't do it, that, for you, is evil' (James 4:17 TM).
