Connecting with God
'LET EVERY LIVING, BREATHING CREATURE PRAISE GOD!' PSALM 150:6
Why do we worship God? There have been millions of words written on this subject. There are theories about our upbringings, our surroundings, all sorts of ideas about how our minds are wired. The very simple truth is that we worship God because that's
a) why were created and
b) as humans we naturally worship something that we love!
For those of us who've had our lives totally transformed by God, it's obvious we're going to want to worship Him. But what is worship? In our today's churches we can get a bit distracted and start thinking worship is all about singing Modern songs with a guitar, when actually our whole lives can be worship to God! People connect with God in hundreds of different ways. For some it's through music but for others it may be wandering in the hills and thanking God for the beauty, or for others it's simply showing love to their friends and family.
If you're not a massive fan of church worship, don't worry! There's nothing wrong with you, we're all different! Do your best in church, but also discover what works best for you. What's your in-built instinct for prayer? Where do you want to be? Locked away or watching the sunset? We were made for worship, it's awesome. So take some time to discover what works for you, and then use it to give God praise!
