Big issue? Take it to Jesus
'... behold, a woman ... with an issue ...' Matthew 9:20
Lads - don't get overexcited and break out the party poppers just yet - this isn't a chance for you to revel in the fact that at last, someone has acknowledged that girls have issues! This word's for you today, too. We've all got issues - whether it's self-esteem ('I'm worthless'), lust ('phwoar, I fancy a bit of that'), jealousy ('I wish that was mine'), anger ('I'm gonna deck him') or something else completely, we've all got something that keeps on rearing its ugly head and reminding us that we don't always get it right.
The woman in this story had an issue (a physical problem that had been bugging her for 12 years) when she came across Jesus. She had three options. She could have thought:
1) 'Nothing's gonna change. Why bother?'
2) 'I've heard good things, but with this many people Jesus'll never notice me' or
3) 'If I could just touch Him, maybe I'd be sorted'. She chose the third option, hunted out Jesus and touched Him - and miraculously, her issue was gone.
We all have issues. So what are you going to do with yours? Keep it to yourself, thinking you can never change? Think that Jesus won't notice it with so many other people to worry about? Or ask Him to help you fight it, believing that He will, and come out the other side a better person, who's dealt with it, and be able to move on? You know the right answer.
