Are you up for it?
'Then Isaac sowed in that land, and reaped in the same year a hundredfold; and the LORD blessed him.' Genesis 26:12
Sometimes what God asks us to do, can seem totally ludicrous, absolutely ridiculous! Are you up for that? Isaac was; he was well up for whatever God asked of him. Then he was in a land that was suffering from famine and God told him to stay put. Sensible people don't spend months doing the back-breaking job of planting seeds in a land where there's very little water. Not only is it bad for business, but you and your family are likely to die in the process! Even so, Isaac chooses to obey God, and God kept His promise and business was booming!
Unfortunately this just made the guys living around Isaac (the Philistines) mad with jealousy and they deliberately started to trash all Isaac's hard work. He could have fought back, big time. They were breaking the law! But he chose to be patient, he followed God's way, and as a result he got a bumper harvest and the people were able to live together in peace.
What seemed ridiculous turned out better than ever! We too can find ourselves in situations where it's so hard to give when you have so little, or so hard to be patient with people who are deliberately causing you trouble. Remember God's way won in Isaacs's life, so God's way will win in your life too. Are you up for the absolutely ridiculous today?
