Are you approachable? (2)
'But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control' Galatians 5:22-23
Approachable people are like this:
1) Personal warmth; they actually like people. Ok, so some people are a nightmare, but the truth is that people suss out whether you like them or not. And if you're going to be approachable you need to learn to love people!
2) Their moods are consistent. How frustrating are moody people? You never know how they'll be. If you're moody, people will be scared to talk to you.
3) Sensitivity to people's feelings. Although approachable people are emotionally stable, they don't expect everyone to be that way. They recognise that good people have bad days; and act sensitively to that.
4) They understand human weakness, including their own. Don't be down on yourself, but be honest about your own weaknesses. When you're not trying to show people how fantastic you are and admit your struggles other people will be honest too. An old proverb says: 'Blessed are they who can laugh at themselves, for they shall never cease to be amused.' And because they can admit their own faults, they don't have a problem allowing other people to have faults as well.
5) The ability to forgive, and ask for forgiveness. Sometimes you screw up. Fact. We all do. So why do we often find it so hard to admit that? When you've messed up, say sorry. Get over yourself and ask for forgiveness. When you can do this other people will do it too.
